Hey guys, As a means of better account keeping on my behalf Id like to start compiliing end of month reports. Before bogging myself down in spreadsheets I wanted to ask if there are any fellow warriors that do this already -- and if so -- would you be kind enough to share your method/spreadsheets? Basically I run numerous niche sites selling info products, and have accounts with both clickbank and paypal. At present Im making good sales, but really have no idea of my monthly figures. Ive just been through doing tax and it was a bit difficult to track. Im also in the process of seeking a loan for business expansion. So, put simply, I need to improve on my book keeping and accounting. Can anyone share their methods or spreadsheets? Thanks guys, John PS. Id also like to use these end of month figures for ongoing self performance reviews. |

I have used Microsoft's Office Accounting for years. Before that I used Peachtree, but finally got so tired of their inability to integrate with other productivity applications (like MS Office) that I made the jump. With Office Accounting, all the data is stored in an open database format (SQL Server) so I can build custom interfaces and reports as needed. It also gives me a path to expand to Great Plains Accounting as I grow. It's free for MSDN subscribers and I think less than $100 to buy a copy retail. Other solutions like Quickbooks are also super easy to set up and maintain as well - and make tax time a breeze. It makes year end a snap. If for no other reason, taxes should compel you to put everything into an accounting system once you get to a few thousand per year in revenue and expenditures. |

Hey I'm an accountant by trade and I just use microsoft excel - it keeps everything simple, plus I'm pretty good at using it due to my background. In the next year I will hopefully be using my knowledge to to create some accounting software for internet marketers, that automates things as much as possible! It's good to make sure you keep a track of things - as the taxman can royally screw you if you don't - I've seen it happen many times! |

Thanks for the replies guys, I appreciate it. Does anyone have an actual spreadsheet they can share to give me an idea of how to track each site and cashflow? |
