automatic notification if website is down?

Hi I have heard there is a site that allows you to register websites and the site will check it periodically to see if it is up, and if not send you an email that it is down. Does anyone know what this site is? Thanks, Ed.

I personally like, Website Alert, free web site monitoring service although I haven't used the since moving to my dedicated server.

We recommend (and use) HyperSpin

They don't cost much at all, and give a good range of stats.

You can also pay a little bit extra (optionally) and have SMS text messages sent to your phone if your website is down.

Wow, like I said I hadn't used them in a while, but that is sad, they offered a great free service and some nice addons for the paid service.

There was a Free WSO for a desktop application that does something like this. Alican Yenidogan is the Warrior's name. I believe the software is called Vultur.
