Default Newbies, is this your BIG Opportunity?

What is opportunity?

Every day I'm constantly astounded by the number of opportunities I see just from logging into this forum.

Just yesterday I saw opportunity off of this forum. It was only by chance that I stepped out of the house and the opportunity was right there.

This week I'm house sitting at a friends, and watching her cats. This is an old college friend I've known for over 20 years and we are a lot like sisters.

Some would be offended by what I saw yesterday yet I took it is opportunity.

She had someone here about a week ago to rake leaves. There was a pile of about 25-30 giant black bags in the driveway. There were a couple of other items amongst the bags but they were hidden behind them. For instance, I could see the top of her electric lawnmower and had asked her couple of days ago if she really wanted that to go into the trash. She told me it was broken down, and in an effort to be more environmentally friendly she had turned to using a push mower now.

When the guy came yesterday to remove the bags I noticed one other thing that I hadn't seen before. My friend has indoor cats, and at one point I had bought her this cute little thing that goes out into the backyard and closes in with a netting which allows someone to put their indoor cats outside safely. As the guys were removing the trash bag, this thing I had given her was amongst the items.

When I had first brought it over to her we had set it up in the backyard and it had been used. During the winter had to be pulled out. And I do remember coming back the following year and realizing how hard the ground was to put the stakes into. I think it sat out back for a couple of years and was just going to be too much work in general to set up.

Now I could have been offended seeing it going out into the trash as it was a gift that I gave her. I actually chuckled when it was revealed and then it hit me. This particular gift was not cheap. It was still in really good condition and could easily have sold on eBay for over $100.

I thought about grabbing it, but I am house sitting right now and I don't have a regular still camera on me. I was going to have to lug it around if I wanted to sell it at a later time.

I let it go.

There it was, the opportunity was right in front of me but I didn't take it.

Much in the same way whenever I log onto this forum I see so many opportunities it makes my head spin.

Opportunities are everywhere. But are you ready for them?

Not all opportunities pay off right away. For instance, someone here may ask you to go look at their site to see how it can be improved and in the process you discover a new niche. Someone else may ask you to review a plug-in for them and in return you get to use the plug-in.

Now of course, if you don't have a blog installed, you have no where to put the plug-in. You were in a position where you just lost an opportunity.

Preparation and doing things are absolutely key to being prepare for opportunity when it strikes.

If I had had my camera on me, I would've snagged the outdoor cat device off of the truck and sold it.

Be sure to take some time today to prepare for your big opportunity. Like I said, opportunities are everywhere on this forum. Don't be afraid to challenge yourself and do things for the sake of learning how to do them even if you don't see the money coming today.

The more you expose yourself, the more opportunity will be available to you.

That being said, I may be looking for a little help. If you are a wiz at creating a simple PowerPoint slideshow, please send me a PM with a sample of what you can do.

Is this opportunity for everyone on this forum? Probably not. But I do hope my story has inspired you to recognize the enormous possibilities you are surrounded by every day.

They are everywhere. I was getting rid of a washer and dryer that weren't working and my neighbor comes over and says oh that's an easy fix. It'll cost you $15 to fix and you could turn around and sell each one for $100.

He then told me that he used to go around and pick up the ones that were slated for garbage, take them home, repair them and resell them.

I'm surprised he didn't offer to just take them off your hands for you as a kind neighborly gesture.
