Hi warriors,
I had a few questions about how to improve a solo ad campaign and was wondering if there were any solo ad experts out there that could help. There are many places to place a solo ad, where would someone go to learn how to do this method effectively?

I've been using various different ways like this to generate traffic to my sites, such as safelist blasting, contact solo ads, sometimes you get no results, sometimes you can get decent results.

If a beginner would like to try this method, what type of services are available to help write a solo ad for someone else that will pull in sales.

A great example is a reputable list of 90k emails and I purchase a solo ad to go out to this list, how would I approach the type of solo ad to send out. Would anyone recommend I send my email to a landing page, or straight to a sales page?

If you have any experience with this type of marketing I would appreciate your feedback. I'm the owner of a safelist myself with a list of just under 600 people, so all of these people are somewhat interested in driving traffic to their websites of choice. But yet when I send out a solo ad the response is not that great or is no response at all. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

I am not an expert on solo ads by any means, I have done my fair share of them right enough and I know as much as the title should be eye catching and attention grabbing along with the message, I would also say that most tend to be a sales pitch therefore your one should be somewhat different to the others to get a greater response

I do a lot of solo ads to my own 850K list, and to rented lists as well, and have a few tips that may help...

    1) Use an html version as well as a text version. Even if you are only going to make a html ad with text (as opposed to a graphic or banner), this allows you to track open rate, which is an indication of how strong your subject line is.

    2) Always mask the link with a Hypertracker or other 3rd party tracker. This allows you to change the destination link AFTER the mail has been sent, as well as split test different landing pages.

    3) I also use my own domain, even when promoting an affiliate program. This allows me to brand my domain as opposed to the landing page domain (if it's different), and it gives the user the option of "typing in" an easy name if the link is broken. In fact, my standard PS is...

PS: Link not working? Type or paste
    this into your browser window...

    Domain.com

    4) Remember, shorter is better for more clicks, longer for more qualification. If you are selling a general interest product, keep it brief.

    5) The teaser ad is a "set up" for the landing page. In other words, using similar copy, language, buzz words in the email ad as the site you are promoting creates continuity between the two, and increases response.

    6) ALWAYS Squeeze this traffic to capture names for follow up, and more importantly, to test it and make sure it's real. If they won't opt-in to your list, they probably won't buy.

This is from the man who coined the name: "squeeze page"
so you can pretty well take this to the bank!

You took the words right out of my mouth damn it!

Although, I'm starting to see alot of the places that I've been using to do
solo's with are starting to not let me mail to my landing pages (My first choice)
any more. I have been getting around it doing a reverse optin pages.

Jonathan, hit me up. I've been doing solo ads for years. I have
compiled a list of 1000's of places - I'd love to compare notes.

At the bar somewhere would be nice :-)

Here is a short online guide (no signup required): Solo Ads Advertising | Free Guide for Optimized Solo Advertising Campaigns

Here you can find quite many articles on solo ads: Solo Ads Advertising

I recommend you to use a squeeze page so that to build your own mailing list. After the people subscribe to your own list you can contact them many times (until they unsubscribe) without paying again for another solo ad

Thank you for the great tips Jonathan I really appreciate that feedback! Having a list of 850k sounds really good, I would like to learn how to monetize the lists that I promote to by following the tips you guys have laid out here. Also thank you ezine ads, i'll check out the online guide that you have provided to me as well!

I paid a company to generate an email for me to send out to the lists, and the funny thing is that they followed your guide Jonathan on number 5, taking words from my landing page. I then went to check to see if it would be able to pass the spam filters and the spam score was a .3 which is really good so i'm very excited!

Would advertising in listdotcom.com and businessworldlist.com be considered solo advertising? thanks for the great tips

When you are doing solo advertising. I'd suggest setting up a few domains
that you use for redirects with your hypertracker (or tracking link) becasue
I'm finding that emails are not getting blocked by the sender but they are
now looking at the links that you are using to mail with. So, because you
don't know who's on the solo ads locations list - they could report there
email as spam and in turn you'll burn your link. It's better to have backups.
