How many "how to" ebooks are on your hard drive?

Just for the heck of it I decided to count and I have 67!

Most of these were the freebies that you get from internet marketers in exchange for giving them your name and email address. I've bought about half a dozen.

A few are review copies that people asked me to look over.

On my to do list: go back and review some of the better ones, and trash the ones that were poorly rewritten rehashes.

    I have two computers and I must have tons of ebooks (I'm talking top notch $77+ ebooks not just the giveaway rehashes) I would have to say hundreds over the years, I guess you could say that I'm a bit of an info product junkie. :-)

      You are organized. I have like 4 computers. And a bunch
      or hd's and not to mention Cd's. Ebooks as powerpoints as
      well as .exe and most .pdf etc.

      And it's many. 90% probably never read. 10% read. 9.99%

    Wow! I thought I was a hoarder - but apparently I'm a slacker. Do you guys read through and get something out of most of your ebooks?

    There were several that I found very helpful and then a bunch that I just thought repeated things that were pretty obvious.

    I have well over 200 ebooks on my computer plus tons of software.

    The key is to have some kind of organized approach so you can find ebooks on specific subjects as questions come up in your daily work.

      I just did a newsletter on why knowing, and being able to find and review, all your resources is important. As soon as I started sending it, I stopped in here and see two posts on organizing your business books and software.

    I don't have even 1 e-book but I have 16 SEO tools (software) installed..

    You know, Sinela, I do need to create folders for the different subjects that my ebooks cover. That would help rather than just going in and looking at the big mass of ebooks and going Oh God, I'll fix it later. (Kind of like my kids rooms.)

    I suspect at a certain point when you amass too many it can lead to information overload. That's why I want to take some time to just go through and nuke a bunch of mine. I tend to sit around and try to figure out the best course of action for way too long.

    I have more than 300 ebooks on my computer (and that's after I recently went through and deleted some of the freebies).

    Most of the ebooks that I haven't read yet were given to me at no charge. But I've read every single ebook that I've paid for (usually the same day I receive them).

    It's starting to get really bad though. I really need to organize my system better. I only have them broken down into paid and free categories but I probably should organize them by subject.

    I couldn't even count mine...I know it's pushing 160gb though, because I needed to buy an additional hard drive last weekend when my hard drive became so full, I wasn't able to save a 10 page word doc!

    YIKES...and sooo many I still haven't read. Yep, I'd say I'm a pack rat alright.

    An even better questions would be: What has been the most useful "how to" book you have?

      I don't save them; I download them to my desktop, read them ASAP, I copy any really good nuggets of info and paste them into a large MS Word file under a distinct heading so I can easily find it later. The Word file is around 150 pages of core information that I think is worth holding onto.

      I should note that not every ebook makes it into that file though - over time, a lot of that info is repeated in new books and reports so I end up adding less and less.

      You take a very organized approach to your ebooks! Then again, you actually bathe your RABBIT, so clearly you're never idle. I agree, a lot of the books do repeat the same information - even though we'd all like a brand new easy magic solution, there's really only so much anyone can say about driving traffic, SEO, etc.

        After Brian and Stanley may be I'm the third because I have up to 33 Gigabite what I collected since 2006. To many to count them.

        Some was freebie, some was purchased, some was in exchange with other peoples, and I take them as a possibility at their time. I also wrote 3 but never published them.

        I systematized the materials in 63 folders on three hard drives.

        I think the time of monetizing them is arrived.

            I actually have no idea how many I have spread between my 4 computers and 5 memory sticks, but the funny thing is that just this morning I've been collecting together a 'short list' of favourites to transfer to my new Sony Reader.

            That list - of ebooks I can remember well enough to want to re-read - numbers 42 so far.

            What my little search and regroup project highlighted to me was just how many Internet marketing ebooks are created with really stupid file names that make them all but impossible to quickly recognise.

            I vote for a campaign fo better named ebooks!

    I have 900 in the folder on my desktop that is entitled Ebook Library! I have actually read the majority of them and some are in folders like copywriting, press releases, and there is a WSO one too.

    But rather a lot of them, after reading, I just shove in there to sort later.

          I had 300 ebooks at one point on my computer. Of those probably 280 were "how to"s from being internet marketing freebies. The rest were how to quit smoking, or avoid a speeding ticket, or something of that sort.

          I've got to have like 3 months of nothing to do to get through all that :p

    I must have over 500 of which I've really read about 20 and put into use 10. Right now information overload is my biggest enemy, So I'm trying to focus on maximum 3 strategies rather than try to get a piece of everything (specially those brand new hot products that come out with superb sales letters, yes I get sucked into those quite easily)

        Hi All:

        I hate to admit how many ebooks I have on my hard drive (probably over 5,000, not to mention all the software, audios and videos), but I've at least looked at most of them and read many. I get tons of free ones and pay for some. I also print out the good ones and find I often can't find the originals on my computer, so lately, I've been writing the file names on the top of the ebook when I print it out.

        Did you know that some older ebooks that you might think are out of date, still have really excellent information? I have a collection of excellent online sales letters published several years ago that I use for inspiration when writing copy for my product offers.

        But here's a secret that I've learned from being such an ebook junkie. If you at least look at them (skim), then print out the good ones and read them, you can learn an incredible amount. Some of the free ebooks/audios/videos I've gotten have given me million dollar information that only the best online marketers know. This is the kind of info that the Internet gurus charge $1,000 and up for. In addition, it inspires my own creativity to help me develop new products. There's no copyright on ideas...Regards, Teddi

    Actually that applies to a lot of stuff.

    Restricting it to my ebook collection, it definitely applies. If size or volume were the measure--much, much larger than a breadbox.

    Last year I read (for the first time) Paul Myers excellent report, "The Fortune At Your Fingertips", and decided to catalog the various ebooks, reports and plr products I own. Something happened and it was never done.

    (OK , OK, I didn't do it!)

    Now, will someone please write, "The Procrastination In Your Chair", and send me a review copy?

    More than I have time to count. More than I will ever read. More than would totally send me in a million directions.

    It is a constant fight to just do the activities that build. Not that there wasn't plenty of useful stuff learned, but they can become a time drain and focus killer.

    It would be interesting to know what percentage of marketing ebooks even get read on average. I am thinking less than 50%

    I'm at the point where I don't want more ebooks, I want less. Possibly because I don't see much new any more. I'm not saying I know it all, far from it, I'm saying that it's rare these days that a how-to ebook dazzles me or tells me something I haven't read before.
