I know I have seen this type of software before either online or offered by a Warrior that is used to create the virtual spokesperson that pops out onto the screen of your website. I'm searching and I cant find this again. Does anyone know of anyone offering this or a good tutorial on creating it. I've found one for After effects but I do not have AE.
Thanks, -Bob |

You mean a "walk on" video spokesperson, as in a real person
that walks out or pops up... or do you mean an animated cartoon person? For walk-on you need a transparent video player. If you want a truly transparent walk-on there's a lot of setup to doing it plus some special software. Do-able for under $500 in equipment and software if you know what to get and already have a digital video camera. You need to use a chroma-key setup to get true transparent video of a real person. You can fake it by shooting against a white background and using a white webpage too. For a cartoon person you can use a few different things - most of which look weird but some people like them. There are services that do walk-ons with an actor but if you want to be your own spokesperson or have a lot to say that might not work out. Many of the things I've looked at had a limit of 60 or 120 seconds. These are very general answers. There are a lot of specifics to doing this stuff in a cool way. You need space, light, and knowledge to do it yourself to a pro standard. |

You need to key out the background and render to a format
that accepts alpha channel video. Your video file needs to contain both the actual image of your walk-on and the information for the transparency. Most video formats will not do this so you have to know some stuff about animation video formats. You have to render to .FLV with a .FLV converter that supports Alpha channel. I do consulting on direct response methods and video (hint), so it's not exactly in my interests to share everything I know about this effect in a public forum. |
