I know, I know..."Kevin, you've got to have a compelling headline"...Yes, I concur 100% with that. The killer is, is that in recent months I've seen such silly headlines that come across even cheesier than the one that got you to click on this thread....It's utterly ridiculous. Anyway, my caveat or 2 cents for that matter in writing this thread is this. If at anytime you feel being drawn into thinking that a headline alone is "the answer" you've been searching for...Chances are it's not, and to be quite frank with you team. I'm actually not indignant at all with the latest changes coming from the FTC. All in all we're here to do our best as ethical marketers(at least I hope so) and carve our piece of the American(or where ever you're from) dream for ourselves. So, with that said just be careful where you place your value meter because you just may be setting yourself up for let down. I surely hope not though.

I have too much integrity to sell people false dreams. That's why I stick to selling retail products. I stay away from IM products and lord knows I don't touch CPA at all.

You and me both. I made it a rule for myself a few months ago to steer
clear of the IM niche. No longer do I promote anything in this overcrowded
market or even bother to check out the latest sales pages.

I'd much rather feel happy with myself promoting a good product in
a market that's not so overcrowded than preying on peoples dreams
and promoting the latest s**t that comes out from the IM crowd.

I don't think people realise that the IM niche is is relatively small
compared to other markets and there's 10 times more money to
be made elsewhere.

In regards to sig links and promoting stuff I personally think it would
be awesome if sig links were banned on this forum. People can sell
in the WSO section if they want to come here to sell.

I'm not saying everyone here with a sig link is a scammer because
a lot of the products are good. But I think if sig links were banned then
all of the unethical sellers who only joined to sell to us would be gone
and we'd be left with a great group of ethical marketers that are here
to just learn and share other good info.

Does anyone else agree or am I alone on this one?

I suspect, actually, that fewer people buy into it than many realise. It's just third-rate marketers who are themselves gullible and naive enough to imagine that it's what "most people" buy into.

That's often a sign of desperation, rather than a sign of sales. These are not people who do a lot of testing. They already "know they're right"!

Of course one shouldn't be indignant at all.

One should positively welcome them as long overdue, and hope that they're rigorously enforced, too (which actually I suspect is pretty unlikely).

It's a real win/win. The only people with anything to lose, here, are people who use deception to do their marketing. And the sooner we get rid of them, the better for all the rest of us. They're tarnishing the reputations of all of us with their deceptive, stupid crap.

This post proves a point that your headline/email subject should grab the attention of the viewer. That is why you see headlines like this all the time. You can do this with legit offers. Just emphasize the big benefit of the product or offer.

Granted, I may not know as much as many of you... but, I certainly believe that 37k (or more) is possible in a single day. Although... making it every day is probably a lot tougher.

I've heard stories from Internet Marketers (in my offline mastermind group) who have made this much in a day. Basically, they use the "product launch" angle.

Here's what they told me:

Step 1: They create an over-the-top-great product (imagine an amazing PLR package, complete with keywords, video coaching, autoreponders, adword templates, etc).
Step 2: They leverage their pre-built list, and the lists of other JV partners to get everyone frothing at the mouth for the product release date.
Step 3: They tell everyone that to limit competition, the product is limited to only 37.
Step 4: Then, they build up excitement a bit more... get them really going (you know that you've hit it when people start trying to preorder, sending their credit card numbers via e-mail, without asking you how much it costs)
Step 5: Then, you finally announce that the product is available, for the low price of only $999

Okay, so I'm only paraphrasing what I've heard. Although I haven't tried it myself, I took it as the truth since I wasn't being asked to buy anything. The offline group that I meet with every 3 months is just there to share ideas and provide each other with encouragement and support... so, I don't have any reason not to believe that a few of my fellow members have made large sums of money this way.

Malarkey. $37,000 in a day is not where most people live. Statistically it SHOULD provoke healthy skepticism. Its $13.5 million dollars a year and by the time you are making that in IM you are already known pretty well.

Even though I am relatively new to these boards my first product/application is closing at about 8% from my sales page So I am making money with a great product and no hype copy. That and the application has a few glitches and will only get better. Good thing is my no hype copy fits in perfectly with the new FTC rules as well. Go figure.

The problem I see with this style copy is that people concentrate so much on getting this border line lying sizzle into their copy that they don't work hard enough to create a great product. They race through a product or choosing an affiliate product and figure they will gloss over its weakness with a flashy headline and sales copy.

I think there ought to be a little bit more restraint in copy and by copywriters. Maybe there should be a new career position in IM. Product critique/copywriter. If a product is no good I can't be bothered promoting it or writing good copy for it. If its all hype its like drinking out of a Pepsi bottle (that we had more of back in the day) after the Pepsi's done.

Its still considered a nice haul . The mathematics on that are clear and indisputable so theres no reason whatsoever to cast a judgment on anyone with healthy skepticism. Doesn't make sense.

No one was claiming that is is impossible in a day to create that (and more) but again you will read such things more often than not and they are hype. Whats more the whole point of this post was exactly that so in this case those with some skepticism were right.

Nothing wrong with skepticism. It can protect you as long as you are willing to throw it aside when the facts and the opportunity are right.

10-4! I agree and well said Daniel. When I first read the headline, I thought, maybe some b-lister (no offense) I never heard of had a great day. John Reese had a million-dollar day a couple years back so $37k in a day really isn't that huge in the big picture.

Shaq makes over $200k every time he steps on the basketball court (which is absolutely ridiculous in it's own right) and he plays at least 82 games a year. Do the math.

Jim Carrey and Tom Cruise make at least $20 million per motion picture. Ridiculous. Their on location for a couple months filming a movie, then maybe a month of promo work hitting all the talk shows hyping the movie. I don't care how you slice it, $20 mil for 3 mos of work for a movie is paranormal.

But I digress...

Granted none of these people are in IM, but nonetheless, it's the number that got my attention in the headline. The curiosity factor I suppose from a "no-name" (again, no offense).

Am I guilty, sure.

But if I learned something new, even a smidgen, from some no name (no offense) who figured out the IM Rubik's Cube, I'll high-five myself.

Hmmmm, lots and lots of interesting points made by you guys... My friend who referred to me as a "no name"...lol. That's funny, and I totally understand what you meant. But like many marketers out there who've earned very well yet aren't in the spotlight. I'll just say I joined that crowd a few years back. I'm not a million dollar launch dude or anything like that, but it's definitely beyond what most will ever reach in the IM sector. In fact, the more "behind the scenes" type of projects I engage in I find out about guys who's numbers make my head spin, and actually despise being a poster boy for the IM world. I truly dig that approach, but also have enormous respect for those well known marketers who crush it and reeeeeally help folks. So, I hope this thread helped you whether trivial or profound.
