Press Releases In Small, Local Niche Getting Bigtime Traffic

Hey Warriors,

So this morning as I'm drinking my coffee I logged into my press release distribution dashboard to check some stats. To my amazement, in just 1 week (actually not even a full 7 days yet) the press releases I wrote and submitted for one of my clients have had over 400 unique visitors.

Now, obviously that doesn't sound too high...but this "niche" is extremely small. Basically, this client is a local private school haha The highest performing keyword we found to target that made sense only gets about 1,200 searches a month. BUT, you gotta remember that 1 new "customer" to them means a minimum of $13,000.

So, the moral of the story is that press releases work, if written properly! Here are a few guidelines:

1) Make sure your primary keyword(phrase) is in the title; however, don't be afraid to make the title catchy even if it's lengthy. For example:

"The King's Academy Raised Over $1,900 At Homecoming This Year, Private Schools Palm Beach Do Give Back"

2) Make sure the summary is concise and informative, but "teasing" at the same time. For example:

"At Homecoming 2009, The King's Academy raised over $1,900 on their campus through various events and festivities, sending all proceeds to charity."

3) In the body be sure that the first paragraph "resolves" the title of your press release. For example:

"Though many people in the community consider private schools in Palm Beach to be rather "cliquish," The King's Academy separates itself from the stereotype. Already this year TKA has volunteered many students' time and effort to help the community through services and fund raising."

4) Be sure to keep the next few paragraphs an informative "opinion" in your press release. Readers are more likely to respond to good, informative content, rather than a blatant advertisement for your company or site.

5) Include the appropriate contact information at the bottom of the press release.

Well, I hope this gives you some good ideas for an extra source of traffic and publicity.

I have been using Free Press Release - Online Press Release Distribution Service for some of my press releases and have enjoyed their service thus far. It only cost $1 to submit a "premier" press release. I think they could charge more, but I'm glad they don't

Take care, thanks for your time!

      Tommy,

Thanks once again! I was looking for ways to get press releases out without having to fax pages to local news outlets.

      This is sweet!
