Default List management

Hey guys,

I have been seeing some success! (Go warrior forum! Oh and I am part of a webinar base from Adeel and Bobby, good guys)

Anyway, I have been doing research on list marketing and am getting confused.

I recently read a post where, after the reader opts in for a free product, they are taken to the persons salespage. Do people find this converts well? (as a consumer I bought from this a few times, but I could see others being annoyed)

I am not currently doing this, but do others see profits from it?

Thanks

As long as you get the free product, then there's nothing wrong with making the thank you / download page a sales page as well. I think that's good marketing. I do it myself and it does convert pretty well. The key is making the paid product very closely related to the freebie. Don't switch gears. You'll confuse your new list members, and that's not a good start to your relationship with them.

It really comes down to the way you flow one part into the next. If you give them value and want to "Enhance" that value and offer something that is an "Irresistible Offer" that is a no-brainer and you will maximize your conversions.

All the best

Sean

I disagree with this method, I don't do it. When I'm on a list that does nothing but sell, I quickly unsubscribe. If you take good care of your list, and offer some free stuff first, you'll always have them, no need to rush right into a sales page...
Just my opinion..

Vinny, your point is well taken, but you can work both in without hurting feelings or annoying folks along the way. It comes down to positioning on the download page after they've signed up for a freebie. Make sure the download link is prominently displayed at the top of the page. But the rest of that page can certainly be devoted to something related that you sell. They get their freebie without a lot of hunting around for the link, and you get them when they're excited and in a very positive mindset about you because you're giving them something. Psychologically, this is a prime buying time. Ignore it at your own peril. I really do not see any evidence in my own testing (admittedly limited) that indicates it sours the relationship in any way.

I think your instinct to start off on the right foot with your subscribers is a point very well taken, though.

You must understand the amount of money you're leaving on the table for your competitors taking by not enhancing the value of a freebie being offered on the front end.

You're leaving thousands or even tens of thousands of dollars you would of made otherwise on the back end by not offering an upsell to your list.

Keyword here is 'enhancing the value' of what is being offered on the front end, as long as your offer is congruent and makes total sense with the correct price tag, everyone who flows through your funnel will have no problem with the offer on the back end at all.

Oh OK, so you put the download link at the top of the page?

I usually just email them the link, but your way makes sense. This way they feel like you actually do have a connection with this page.

(As a consumer, back in the day sometimes I used to be sent to a sales page and go "whoa! where am I?!")

Thanks guys, props!
