Default Keyword Discovery vs Google Search Based Tool vs Google AdWords

Ok, can someone please explain why i get 3 totally different numbers on the same keywords. I was just testing one for fun and got the following:

Google's Search Based Tool (I don't see where it says if it is exact, broad or phrase)
1,500 monthly searches - also I didn't put in a website just keywords

Google's AdWords
3,600 monthly searches for exact searches

Keyword Discovery

330 monthly searches (and that is after I take their number 11 and multiply it by 30 b/c i assume it's daily BUT is says "This column contains the number of times that each keyword or phrase has been searched for over the last 12 months." which is impossible)

What on earth?

IMO tools like keyword discovery are less likely to be accurate... the difference between search based keyword tool and adwords tool is may be they consider geographic area..

I have found that keywords on Google adwords tool are more close to the actual searches. (ONe of my site ranks high for one keyword, and i get almost exact same traffic from Google as shown in tool) So i would recommend going for adwords tool if you want to search only for number of searches, for more keyword ideas keyword discovery may be used

Yes, this is a very accurate response.

I'd like to add to this by saying there are some keyword research tools that actually draw data directly from Google Adwords Tool. I use Market Samurai and I know that it pulls data straight from Google.

PS. I highly recommend Market Samurai

I think Micro Niche finder does also which I think I am going to purchase but everyone always says always compare results so I was just looking for 1 other good source.
