Is there a school of copywriting that is all about SHORT copy?

I respect the great John Carlton and Halbert and Kennedy -- but sometimes I feel that I"d like to test short copy on my customers.

What are the core elements required in short copy? How would Dan or John advise us to sell via short copy?

Is there any guides on Short copy?
