I just checked my stats for the day and notice I have had 1,904 visits from stumbledupon and $36. The sale is not surprising in anyway as I personal believe the site would still have made at least $26 had stumbledupon not sent me that much time. I had about 800 visits from stumbledupon yesterday but there was no sale ( something on your for the site in question ). What baffs me is the amount of traffic and not the sale. I have been make between $36-$50 per day with as little as 50 visits per day but unfortunate I am still making something within that range even with the amount of traffic coming. What this means is that the traffic is virtually useless ( OKAY, it will help the site sell better as I am going to sell it by next week ) but then, does it mean no one is making sales from traffic from sites such as digg, stumbledupon and the like? Are there certain niches that are profitable with the social sites? I need to know cos being who I am, I like doing what brings some success over and over again and would mind trying stumbledupon and again if I know which niche will be profitable with traffic from them. comments.. |

We might need more information to diagnose the cause of the low conversion rate. Are you certain the problem is with the source of traffic, and not with the headline, offer, order page, the look of the site, the content that the visitors read that got them to visit, etc? It seems there are too many variables to jump to the conclusion that stumbledupon is the problem. At least, that's how it seems to me, but maybe you have narrowed it down; I just don't know what testing you've done. |

Traffic from digg and stumbleupon are notorious for very low buyers. So not really surprising that you didn't make any(or few) sales off of that traffic.

Yommy... Congrats on the huge surges of traffic you are getting into your site from digg and stumbleupon! I think traffic from these sources are just icing on the cake for a website. I believe the primary goal of using these sites is really for SEO purposes to get your site ranking high. I think the majority of users on digg and stumbleupon are really looking for entertainment. They have just come home or are winding down their day before bed and want to read/watch funny videos and strange stories....not buy something. |

This is awesome yommy, hope you'll remember me. Anyhow, you've been doing great... I made a hell mistake not joining warrior forum all this while. I got carried away with selling the information rather than investing most of my time in doing it myself. Well, this is a good turning point for me. As for 2010, i'm ready to showcase my stuffs for the internet marketing world. Not to sell this time, but to do myself. |

Social traffic like that doesn't convert very well for me either. I suspect that they don't stay long on my sites until they are off to the next great headline they see. They are information samplers - they look, but don't buy. My search engine traffic converts at least 10 times better than social traffic. |

When I submit an article to stumbleupon, I get around 500 views from it within a couple hours. Not once has one of them turned into a conversion. But sometimes weeks later I will get a stumble from the same article, only 1 or 2, and they turn into sales. When you see the surge of traffic, it makes you happy...then you see its worthless and your sad lol. I just use stumbleupon for backlinks. I've heard if you are active in the community, you can get quality traffic from them. |

Yes as has been mentioned, social bookmarking sites do bring in traffic but mostly it does not convert. They really are focused just on the entertainment. I had a page that got popular on 3 sites, stumbleupon was one of them. It wound up with over 35,000 visitors and the total 'adcents' income was under $1, and it wasn't like the adsense was hard to see. An exception (which I've seen) would be if you have an awful page about a topic that leaves the reader baffled and looking for more info, they can turn into pretty good clickers. But then you have the problem of getting the page popular in the first place and I suppose a good digg group would help, but I'm not going to bother going that way. |
