Possible New Paypal scam

Anyone here getting fraud claims from Paypal for items not bought by owner of paypal account

I got the strangest claim from paypal about a previous customer for fraud

I tried getting in touch with this customer to get a confirmation if this was so, but received no response what so ever, which I thought was strange

I would of thought a simple email to me explaining this would be sufficient but I got the silient treatment

Ended up having to issue a refund which I have no problem doing

Is proof of such fraud required by paypal? or do people just contact them about this as a dispute.

    So far every single one of these that I have gotten have NOT originated from Paypal.com but from the scammer. Be careful.

      This is why instead of asking for a refund this maybe the route of choice for scammers especially for eproducts

      problem is there is much protection as a seller in this one

          I never click on any links to paypal, I always type in the address each and everytime. All kinds of fake paypal emails go around..

          What you better look out for is that actual "real" paypal security review team. They put limitations on your account at random they choose accounts. The problem with this is when they do it your account is pretty much locked can't get no payments or make any. All because paypal wants you to verify information about yourself "AGAIN" at random.

          My account right now is limited due to a security check and now I have to wait to do anything untilthey lift the limit. I can understand the security but to block payments, that is freaking stupid.. we have live websites being advertised.

          I have been paypal verified since 2001 why on this green earth was my account chosen at random for a security check .. Stupid!!!

            I would venture as far to say that I'm more than sure you're mistaken as to the "reason" your PayPal account has had a limit placed on it.

            I too have been with PayPal since 2000; have done thousands and more in transactions through them with never even a hiccup.

            With them being back by whom they are AND being involved in money markets; (which means involvement with the SEC); they have too much vested in their business model and far too much transaction velocity going through their system to do anything "silly" that they can't verify their actions for.

            I'd make sure all of my information given to them is checking out and still being properly verified.

              I am 100% sure of the reason.. It is posted right in my paypal account..

              As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the
              PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding
              your account.

              Our system requires further account verification.
              There is no verification needed, they have all information and fully up to date.. I talked to them on the phone and they said they are going at random through accounts a putting limits on them doing security checks
              "AT RANDOM"...

              Little do most know.. Paypal does have a live staff that monitors and checks each and every transaction and now they have a dedicated security team that will slap your account on hold "for no reason" just to do security checks.

                I got one of those scammer Paypal notices.

                But it wasn't from PayPal...it was from PayPals with an "S".

                When you look at it your eye doesn't even pick up the S at the end.

                Next week all my emails will be sent out by Franks Kern. My open rate should set records.

    Paypal will address your your name. Also look closely at the url and you will notice that it is not a paypal address.

    I used to get those type of fake "phishining" emails all the time, sometimes with foul language say "I sent payment to you, why haven't you sent my stuff" etc all I would do is send it to

    spoof@paypal.com to determine if it came from paypal as well as checking my records (after dumping my browser cookies as a precaution and not clicking on any link they sent.

    forward the email to spoof@paypal.com and see what they say.
