Default Listbuilding or Direct Linking?

Hello Everyone!

I've been building a list in the weight loss area the last months (not so big list size yet.)

Have anyone of you had any experience in list building in the weight loss niche?

So far I haven't seen very great results, though I sometimes get 2 sales on every 50 people who clicks the affiliate link (quite ok I guess.)

Would you recommend me to keep building the list or insted go over to direct linking?

I know that many say "the money is in the list", but does this just work in the IM area, or can it be used successfully in other niches as well?

Technically, the money is not in the list, the money is in the relationship you have with your list.

Good tip!

I guess it's important to add valuable content to your list subscribers,
so they are hopefull "eager" to open your e-mails?

Then I'm hopefully on the right way...

If you can, why not take the time to build a long term asset ( your lists ) that has the potential to generate traffic and income almost on demand.

I guess it's a good thing to keep building my list.

The good thing is that I get traffic everyday from articles that I have submitted in the past, but was not just sure in what way I should use this traffic for the best results.

But as what was mentioned earlier, it's maybe more important to focus on the content that I provide to the list, and the relationship with the list, not just the list size.

I think the best idea is to keep building your list. Otherwise any money you spend on traffic is wasted and cannot be recycled. Building your list allows you to recycle your traffic because you have an asset that's yours to keep. Once you direct link somewhere that person is gone.

What you should work on is increasing your opt-in conversion rate. Any products you promote should be secondary to your opt-in and retention rates. Products will always be there for you to promote. A good audience to promote your products to can be hard to come by sometimes.

I am also in the weight loss niche and I have to say that building a list and establishing a relationship is the only way to go. I tried direct linking and had little success. The reason for this, in my opinion, is that the weight loss crowd tends to be resistant to impulse buying. They have been there and done that, so to speak - and have probably looked at everything out there. Simply redirecting them to a sales page won't do it.

In fact, it can even be difficult to give away a free report in exchange for their email address.

Tough crowd, but well worth it once you have them on your list and establish a relationship and trust.

Thanks!

Great to get some tips from someone who is in the same situation!

I will focus more on the opt-in rate, the content I provide, and building a relationship with my list.
