Default Need info on Ebay rates please

I am selling a item for $9.99 on ebay currently. When I list the item it say that I pay $1.09 for sale fee (not listing fee) So does that mean you pay 11%
comm or are they charging commission on the shipping fee as well which is $4.99

See this link for details on the eBay fee structure.

Fees for selling on eBay

Assuming an Auction Style Listing and depending on the Category this item falls under... the Listing Fee is either $0.10 or $0.15. The Final Value Fee is 8.75% or $0.87. That doesn't total up to $1.09... so I can only assume that this is not an Auction Style Listing.

In any case... the final fee is a combination of Listing Fee, any listing enhancements and Final Value Fee.

Cheers,
Chris

When I do the listing (a buy now not auction) I says the listing fee is .35c Then before I list tell me the Final Value fees is $1.09 per item I sell as I list 5 at a time.

The item I am listing is a buy now on 7 days of $9.99 and the shipping fees $4.99

Just worked it out;

1) Sale item 8.99 - 12% - 1.09 (buy now)
2) Insertion fee .35
3 Paypal 6% of total sale which is $14.98 including shipping = .88

That is $2.32 for a $14.98 sale which is 15.5% per sale
as the product I am selling is in the "other" section

No wonder ebay and paypal is making so much money

Hello,
I always allow 20 percent for ebay and paypal fees.
I used to make money on the shipping but since the post office had been raising the rates
it costs me even more than the price that I charge the customer.
The trick is not to pay for shipping boxes as I get them from local stores for free.
If I had to pay for that I would be losing even more money.
