So for a couple of my sites I keep getting an error message when trying to submit my sitemap to Webmaster tools.
I have a Wordpress blog installed on the sub-domain of mysite.com/blog and I used the XML sitemap generator plugin to create the sitemap. My site is added in webmaster tools as http:/ /www.mysite,com, however, when I go to my blog it goes to http:/ /mysite.com/blog without the "www" which is what is causing the error in Webmaster tools. I am getting an error that the paths don't match. What is the best way to fix this? Thanks in advance! |

I assume you mean subfolder?
I don't have WP up atm, but I believe there is a setting in the "Settings" tab that specifies whether you want your site read as http://www.yoursite.com/ or http://yoursite.com Might be a setting on the plugin for this as well... Is this a new domain? It can take 24-48 hours before http://www.yoursite.com/ and http://yoursite.com both function properly. They should read the same. |

Hey Scott,
Sorry, I did mean to say a sub folder. (It's late here!) I didn't realise that setting was available but I just went into one of the domains and changed it from http:/ /mysite.com/blog to http:/ /www .mysite.com/blog and that works fine now. I deleted the plugin from my server and re-uploaded it and re-created the sitemap and it appears to be working correctly now. Thanks a lot for your help! |
