Keyword Research Question

Im currently doing alot of keywork research for some Adsense pages. I am mainly using Market Samurai. When analyzing the keywords should i be concerned about the "Domain Age" of my competition?

Im finding alot of great potential keywords where the top 10 google results are not optimized for, and do not have a lot of back links to the page, however have a 5 to 10 year age/history....

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I tend to notice that even though the competition has older domains, if they are not optimized for that keyword then I can usually get higher than them in the rankings.

Id much rather them have high domain ages than page rank

the domain age means completely nothing... you can get above them easy, just make sure that you have very good optimization i.e. keywords in the meta tags, description, title and urlalso if you build some good backlinks you can overtop them easily

How do you know if the keyword is optimized or not in the top ten results and check backlinking for that keyword? If I may ask a noobie question.

Market samurai tells you some basic on site SEO, like if the keyword appears in the url, meta description and keywords and title.... that should give you enough info on who you are up against.... That's what makes market samurai so great....

it also tells you the amount of backlinks to the domain as well as to the specific page (if you're competing against a page on a domain).

It also tells you the PR rank and the age of the domain, it also tells you if they are enlisted in dmoz and the paid yahoo directory...

            anything else?

You can Check back links in google by

        link:whateversite.com

        Yahoo and MSN require the

        link:full site url

You can also check subdomains in the same way

Site age and page rank means very little .

Their number of back links and just as important (if not more)... the amount of keyword rich content on their site is what you have to compete with.

I tackle new niches by really going after the competitions content and keywords while using the same content to build back links .

If age meant a lot those sexy 90's type sites would be all we see on Google one

it has been well known that using link:yoursite.com in google doesn't show all your links. You may want to use yahoo site explorer and enter your url, and also backlinkwatch.com

It shows you all your links in Google .

Do the same search in Yahoo , using your full URL will show you all the links they have indexed .

      Same for msn

These searches may not show links for other search engines but if you want to rank in Google the links that Google recognizes are the only ones relevant .

I see a domain name with AGE and keyword in the domain is very strong competitor...
if it is a domain name with with no keyword in URL, then age does not matter much...

When you look at the SEOC Matrix.. Make sure there is no more than 2 sites that red strait across. No mare then 50 BK links, at least 2 with PR 3 or lower, and you are normally safe if the top ten links are all long tail urls, meaning not the main domain.
