Hello Warriors I need a Wordpress help before I smash and break my machine ![]() In the admin dashboard -----> Appearance ----> Widgets The f***g second (right) sidebar is showing nothing on it, though when I view the blog, a blog-roll is showing on the blog!!!!!! I tried to refresh many times, I even changed the theme, but the same, the sidebar is empty while the blog-roll is showing on it!!!!!! I need to remove this idiot blog roll, but I couldn't because it simply not there on my dashboard!! I upgraded recently to 2.8.5, but I don't think it has a thing to do with this issue. Any suggestions? |

Did you go under Links and remove the links there?

Oh man that sounds frustrating! If it helps, here's a video of when my friend smashed my computer for me: To answer your question, could you try putting a text widget in the sidebar, and writing something like "test" in it. I've seen templates be setup that they have stuff showing, but once you put a widget in, it replaces that. You could solve this by diving into the code, or putting a widget in there you actually like. Matt |

Ah, the fun of not knowing css and finding a nice theme you like where the creatoer decided to stick a widget in a side bar that you don't need but since it's prebuilt you have to tweak the code to get rid of it. That's actually why I bought artisteer lol, 50$ = being able to create my own themese instead of spending an hour trying to figure out how to get rid of annoying crap people stick into their wp themese. Anyway, it sounds like you have a theme with a builtin blogroll, since it's built in you cannot remove it by going into appearances -> widgets, since it's not there. What you need to do is go into theme -> edit -> right side bar and look at the code there trying to figure out which line you need to remove to get rid of it. I'd suggest you copy the original side bar's code into a notepad document (just in case you screw something up) and then start deleting things you think might be the blogroll widget. Delete a line, save, refresh your site, see if blogroll still there, if yes, paste that line back then delete something else... Like I said if you don't know css (like me) this is beyond annoying. PS: the above suggestion works as well, sometimes you get themese where some widgets will show up, but once you put a widget into a side bar all the prebuilt widgets will disappear. |

By default Wordpress adds those widgets to sidebars. But - if you look at the sidebar widgets nothing shows. However - if you drag a blank text widget into the sidebar the default (invisible ones) will go! Magic. |

Yeah.. they are supposed to be already there. When you change the widgets in the sidebar they would disappear and the new widget would show up. Sumit. PS. If you do smash the computer, do send me the pics. Thank You! |

Have you installed it from your hosting Cpanel? I just offered to remove it for you like I always do to my own blogs. After trying to remember how to do it and tell you, I suddenly see that I have the same case. Just tell me is it a self installation, or you did an automatic installation from your hosting company? That is exactly it. If you don't want to mess with the default coding in the theme, just put a blank text widget there and it will all go away. | |
