No more Review Copies!!!

Lately WF has been flooded with requests for review copies.

It's becoming a trend, someone puts up a WSO and here we go:

"Can I have a review copy?"

Two problems here:

1 - If people wanted to drop review copies, they can (and should) do it before the WSO launch;

2 - Often when people get a review copy they just come back to say "yes, i got a review copy of this and it's great."

Man, this is getting more and more like DP, witch is nowhere near a compliment.

Can Allen and Mods get a emergency meeting and decide IF they want to to create a new rule to STOP this issue for good?

I know I would be thankful.

What about you?

Oh! one of the more detailed reviews.

This whining and pleading for a review copy is getting very tiresome! I'd have a bit more respect for some of these people if they showed some integrity and just asked for a "free" copy, and stopped this pretence of offering a review.

    Fernando, you get my vote.

Agreed. Asking for review copies and creating same threads over and over again instead of trying to search the forum if there is a thread already. Can't blame anyone. The mods are doing a great job though.

Oww.. Fernando. Ok, I won't ask for a review copy..

But, may I at least have the $5,000 you made last month with the system on your WSO?

There was a guy once who wanted a review copy on a $1.00 product.

I almost choked on my biscuit when I read that and shaked my head and cursed Digital Point forums for adopting a "beggars playground" full of freebie seekers who have nothing better to do then pile a huge collection of E-books, Scripts, Software until their head explodes with information overload..

And then they rinse and repeat this until they quit IM...

I have to agree with you on this - it's both tiresome and annoying.

Personally, when I need a book reviewed, I choose suitable people and approach them. I never approach anyone who has 'begged' for a review copy, because I can't be certain the reviews will be honest.

I also choose people who have been above reproach in their dealings with others, and whom I feel can be trusted. (I don't want my products flaunted all over the internet. )

Great post, and thanks for bringing it to everyone's attention.

I remember something like this in a WSO in which the WSO creator called it "Set Your Own Price", even if you set your price to $1.00, that's all you had to pay for the WSO.

The first post was........."My I have a review copy".

That was for Josh Kulp's product LOL, just before his surgery. The buyers could set their own price, even $0.01. Still one guy asked for a review copy!

We can all thank doofus point for this mentality and the one liner reviews.

I wholeheartedly agree that this should stop. A rule in place would be good.

I hope Admin and Mods take notice

Does this "review copy" thing work at Porsche dealerships?

    Maybe I'll try it....

Me: Oh is that the new porsche 911?

SalesGuy: Yes it is sir, are you interested?

Me: Yes, can I get a review car?

    SalesGuy: Sorry?

Me: Oh, I am kind of a big deal, one endorsement and a one-line review from me in an online forum and you will be selling these cars like hot-cakes. Trust me.

SalesGuy: You want a free Porsche????

Me: Well, yeah. Why shouldn't I get it free? I mean, I am me, and the World owes me a living. I am kind of entitled to it.

I think you can get a test drive on cars.

If no one knows you or are familiar with your work, it might make sense to consider getting some reviews before a release.

If you don't want to furnish one, that is fine. I agree, those asking for review copies on the threads should not be. It's one thing to ask "has anyone reviewed" and quite another to go to a store and ask the owner to just give you product.

If you are hesitant to buy without one then you should wait for others to purchase and give their feedback. I have done this.

And the majority of WSO's have a money back guarantee of some kind.

I think the bigger problem is the rash of PAID reviews that are happening.

You drop a WSO and within a couple minutes you get a flood of PM's:

"If you would allow me to review your WSO I will make a video review or give a very detailed review of your product in your WSO thread - Here are some links to some other reviews I've done"

Imagine my shock when all of the reviews are always positive

Are you saying paid as in you are paying them by giving them access to product in return for a review to be posted on your thread or a video to be made for it?

Here's how you deal with it.

            1. If the request comes in the form of a PM, report the PM to the help desk
and let them deal with it how they see fit.

            2. If the request comes in the form of a post to the WSO thread itself,
hit the spam button and get a few more people to do the same so that
the post goes into moderation, the mods can see it, and then again, do with
            it as they see fit.

As far as a response to the person.

            Here is mine.

Sure, you can have a review copy. The cost is (whatever the price of
            the WSO is)

            And be done with it.

I'm personally sick and tired of it too and quite honestly, the next person
who asks me for one better not have a web site in their signature because
I will write up a review of that person on my "hall of shame" site that
will make them wish they were never born.

Maybe if people who pulled crap like this really suffered some REAL
consequences because of it, they'd stop doing it.

            End of rant.

If someone comes to me and says - "give me your product for free and then I will leave you a review" - To me that is a paid review...

In the past when I have given people one of my products for free I specifically tell them that "no review is necessary" because I don't want to give the appearance of a paid review.

Of the people that hit me up regularly for this type of arrangement - I've never seen a bad review yet...coincidence? I doubt it.

Yes. Interesting you should bring this up becasue its the one thing that makes me think I may never do a WSO with my present product. The nature of the product just about forbids me from giving out review copies. My present customers would find it hypocritical (and it would be).

To me the rules already kinda cover it but it isn't spelled out. If you are asking for something free you are making a post to disrupt the offer (unless the offer refers to giving out review copies). If you want to try your luck then send a request by PM.

Can't get much more disruptive to a sale than opening the possibility of getting the product for free.

Well... reviews are important. However, requests for review copies in WSO's kind of cheapens the thread.

I think responding to these requests (or not responding) is part of the customer service aspect of selling a product.

My suggestion would be to disallow the requests in WSO/Classified threads.

Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.

I understand the frustration, but I have to think that everyone has the right to say what they want, even if it is to ask for a review copy. More often than not, they seem like beggers and I feel a little embarrassed for them.

I have been the recipent of a review copy or two when they were offered. But I would feel very uncomfortable in asking for one if it wasn't offered by the OP. But I also know that I like to know what others have to say about the product offered so if the OP has not got any reviews from trusted Warriors, then I am hesitant to want to buy.

Im a bit new to the warrior forum but ive been doing online sales for years with various projects. Ive had requests from people before but in general what i do is have 2/3 people who i trust to do a no holds barred review of a product, if its good they will say so and if its bad they will also say so.

This is what thw warrior forum needs, 2 or 3 people who are willing to be reviewers for others. This way they can guarantee the product will not be spread about and that they will get a genuine review.

If anyone saw my review of OMI's Instant Payment Profits this is the sort of example im on about, i test everything on both product and in a script's case - security too.

So to recap if you choose 2/3 trusted people to do reviews and only these people it would stop all the requests for review copies which 90% are just to get something cheap or free.

From a newbie point of view, if I were thinking about releasing a WSO, I would first solicit reviews from senior warriors and let them rip it apart and give feedback. After implementing changes from their feedback I would select beta testers from my target audience (could be newbies or marketers that are focused in areas that the wso targets) I think the War Room is probably the best place for this sort of thing. The beta testers are the ones to give the reviews for your targeted customers.

This is roughly the process that most companies follow when developing a new product or service. You are IN BUSINESS, so conduct yourself accordingly when bringing your ideas to life! No need for reviews in the WSO forum because that process was completed in the War Room. The WSO is you sharing your completed offer at a REDUCED price to fellow warriors vs full boat to the general internet public.
