Default How things have change online since 1998.

I remember back in the day, way back, how easy it was to get your site listed number 1 for just about everything. Even in 2003 I had my main site listed number one and six of my sister sites all in the top ten along with it. I hogged up the whole page for the search term "titanium bracelets" in Google.

I took a few years off of internet work, and getting listed high is a ton of work now!

Just felt like reminiscing of the easy days.

It's like you have to have 5000 links to get anywhere. My sites would rank high with 50 incoming back then, some not even that.

Agreed. Back in 2001 I bought two really generic keyword domains. They ranked on the first page of Google for quite some time, and I didn't get backlinks or anything.

That all changed with the Google "Florida" update. Anyone remember that?

It is fun learning all the ways to get traffic and rankings now though.

See you at the Warrior Conference!

Paul, could you please elaborate as to what the florida update was? That may have happened before i started to get interested in the whole 'make money online thing.'

Imagine in 5yrs time how much harder than it is now to get ranked??
with the social search emerging i think it will be very interesting how it all goes.

Grossed 850k in two years. I lived like a freaking rock star. Oh, the good old days.

Mmm, honestly the competition isn't THAT tough at the moment for that keyword phrase.

Yeah it's not really, compared to other industries. I sold the site though a few years ago and now it's nowhere in site, I think it's on the 4th page or something now. It has a page rank of 3 with only 200 incoming links however.

It goes to show how an older site can have high page rank with a small amount of links.

This page has always confused me http://ww.forza-tesori.com/links.php

It has a page rank of 2 with only 5 incoming links. Wtf? How did I do that? I never put any effort into this page. I designed all the bracelets btw.
