Do any other article directories besides EZA give you instant traffic?

First off, I'm terrible with keywords and I don't rank for anything in google right now. Maybe it's because I'm doing it wrong or maybe not looking hard enough, but to me it seems like all the good keywords in my niches have WAY too much competition for a newbie like me to have any shot of ranking for.

Something that I have found that does get me traffic (and this is my 1 and only traffic source right now) is the "recently submitted" list on EZA.

I've found that if I submit a handful of articles, I usually end up with a sale or 2 from the immediate traffic the articles get by being on the recently submitted list. Though of course this exposure is brief, depending on what category it is.

I know a lot of you will think this is a horrible business model, but its the only thing I've been able to make work so far that gets me traffic.

Anyway, with this recent scare about EZA cracking down on people, I'm a little worried since they are the only way I'm getting sales right now.

So does anybody know of any other article directories that give immediate traffic the way EZA does? It'd be nice to have more than 1 directory giving me traffic in case EZA decides they don't like me anymore.

Thanks!

-Jon

There are no other directories that will give you the instant traffic EZA does. You can get a bit from Articlesbase and Goarticles, but honestly you'd probably have to submit 10 times as many articles to see the same traffic.

Yes, it's a horrible business model, in fact it's not a business model at all. You MUST learn to get your articles ranked for your own good - otherwise you'll be submitting articles every day for the rest of your life. You'll have no time for holidays, emergencies or days off for any other reason. And EZA can ban you at any time - even if you're not breaking the rules.

If you're finding it difficult to get your articles ranked you should try sending your traffic to a squeeze page and build a list.

I get almost no traffic, even over time, from any of the other article directories. However, I see my articles in the other directories in the SERPs, so they must be good for link juice.

What you should be asking yourself is "Does any article directory actually help you advertise your articles specifically (not ones that advertise the directory but advertise your actual article) ...

  • I have been using buzzle.com and it seems to be driving a fair amount of traffic.

But I think you should submit to at least five to ten different directories. Spin each article and supmit it to a different directory. That way you don´t keep all your eggs in the same basket.

For Keyword research I use Market Samurai. It´s totaly amazing system. Before I knew nothing about keyword research now it´s a breeze.

    Regards.

What I do to rank articles in google is use micro niche finder. It is really good for coming up with titles for your articles. For instance I typed in credit report of course totally saturated. But I found a few keywords such as obtain my free credit report which gets about 8000 searches a day and had little competition . So I wrote an article with that in the title and wrote a 400 word article. If you want to rank in Google for your articles you want to have a least 400 this gives you the opportunity to have a good keyword density that she SEs love.

Google's External Keyword tool does the same thing as micro niche finder sort of, so if you don't want to buy anything to test out this method it's good, but MNF lays out the info better.

The more articles you do in this way gives you more of a change of getting traffic off the SEs until you can get your site to the top of google.

Ezine are not going to ban you if you are writing good quality articles. They seem to be cracking down on spinning and saying the same thing in every one of your articles.

    Best of Luck

In google keyword tool, obtain my free credit report shows 22 monthly search volume only...where do you get 8000 a day?

You should put your articles in other top directories also. Depending on the niche, some rank better than others. For example, goarticles ranks good in some niches, while articlesbase in others, etc. Don't put all your articles in one place if you can not control it. And look at google first three pages rankings and you can notice which article directories rank. Most of the people don't do this. They just submit to EZA because their read this on the forums or on some ebooks.

Buzzle is the only real contender to Ezinearticles. All other pale in comparison period!

Since the other commenters have given you some great information on additional directories I want to tackle the keyword issue.

I've ranked #1 in Google a few times, one over a period of months. I guess it depends on what you're marketing. Try to go for the less competitive keywords and you will rank well in Google, while still getting some traffic.

My best luck has been reviews of products, companies, services that are fresh on the market.

Use Google Keyword Tool and/or freekeywords.wordtracker.com , if you're not already doing so.

I know there are limitations on how many articles you can write with ezineartcles unless you want to pay their high price. So use some of the other recommended directories with no limitations.

  • To the original poster, I would say you should focus on using the articles to get your own sites up there for good search terms. "But wacky widgets" will net you more wacky widget sales on ten searches a month than "wacky widget information" will net you on 50 times as many searches.

Don't worry about what the tools say in terms of search volume -- use your head. It's human beings making those searches. What are human beings looking to buy your wacky widget searching for?

(Pondering whether I should give this information away for free since it is so incredibly valuable... yeah, this is WF, where good people hang out. )

You can promote products for instant sales like you are doing now, but at the same time be linking to your own website too. This will help you get the instant benefit, but also will be something that will help you greatly down the road. So much better than just submitting articles that drop off as time goes on without other benefits.

I use articlebase and probably get atleast one sale on the few articles I have up there a week or so. I did alot of backlinking to the article that obviously has links to my offers. The delay in ezine articles frustrated me. I have heard good things about buzzle though.

There's nothing wrong with EZine Articles. The ones who complain have no passion for their niche and just want to make a quick buck which is why they have trouble writing anything of value. Google also is cracking down on this and if pages are dropped from their index then so be it. If you have a real passion for your niche then you don't need to go spinning articles. There is no reason why anyone cannot write 5 good quality keyword rich articles a day. Give value to your reader and you will get great traffic.
