Namecheap Users - Little Tip for Your DNS settings...

Hi Warriors,

Every time you register domain name with Namecheap or any other registrar...
you have to go back to the domain manager and edit the DNS settings to point to
your own hosting account...

I just discovered today that in Namecheap you can set Checkout Settings in your profile where you can list your default DNS servers for your every new domain registered..
so that this step of manually changing the DNS from Namecheap to your own server is
removed!

It is here to do exactly:
Login to your Namecheap account > My Account > Manage Profile > Checkout Settings

Or after logging into your account simply access this URL..
https://www.namecheap.com/myaccount/...GS.x=1&rkey=NC

Hope this saves you some time in future with new domain registrations.

Best Regards,
Mohsin

    Hi Friends,

I am glad you liked it.

I just wanted to add there is ONE more good thing to turn on..i.e. As you Namecheap
gives one FREE WHOIS guard for each domain...but yo have to setup and TURN it on
manually...which i being lazy never do

But there you have a setting in Checkout Settings that you can set Namecheap
to set : TURN ON whois guard for every new domain automatically....

So your privacy is taken care automatically for your niche domains you do not want
to expose... and it is done for you by the system without any manual input from you...

    Regards,
    Mohsin

Thanks Mohsin, that sure is going to save some time. I do go and edit namecheap DNS servers as fast as I can after registering the domain, so that the domain will propagate quickly.

Now this tip is going to make things easier. One step less...

Usually, how much time does it take for a domain to propagate?
I registered a domain on Namecheap more than 72 hrs back and
it still doesn't show up on the web or my Hostgator Cpanel.

If you have hostgator for hosting and namecheap for domain. You can get an active site almost instantly, if you add your domain and change your DNS settings at once. I found that, if I make some delay in doing this at once, the DNS will take 1-2 days for propagation.

So the tip by Mohsin is sure going to help...

At least with the DirectAdmin panel it doesn't just show up automatically. You have to click on 'add domain' and type it in, then you can work on the site and it will be accessible.

        Hi Kumar,

What i have discovered with my own experince of working with hundreds of new domains
for my own biz and for many of my clients....

        THAT

Whenever you register a domain with Namecheap..or any registrar..do not access it
at Browser's address bar until you have done this

        1. Changed the DNS in domain panel (now onward Namecheap will do this for you :-)
        2. Have added the domain name in your hosting account...

What happen is that this way...when you create Hosting account at your host..
server pings to the domain first time and whole internet just discover something new
has just come into life...now if your own server's dns is already there...every server
in the route will have that updated info...that is your domain will propagate INSTANTLY.

But if you have accessed your domain before you followed above steps...your newly
created domain would have Namcheap's DNS..and every other server in your route
will have recorded those..and most of them going to cache for 12-24 hours period...
that is how you are set for another 12-24 hours!

So always use the method i described above and get your domain propagated instantly...
I do this everday for my every new domain..and it has NEVER failed

Now secret is out use it!

        Regards,
        Mohsin
