And turning them into paying customers is such a wide area of marketing that I've been exploring for a number of years, and going through some of my old notes tonight I came across a few things I've completely forgotten about.. it's interesting (at least to me) to re-read some of the common behavioural patterns customers make when it comes to making a purchase. Selective Evidence; your customer reaches the conclusion you want them to through presenting evidence/statements that resonates with them while igoring statements they do not agree with. Early Termination of Evidence Searches; most people only accept the first alternative 'that fits'. Group Mentality; conformity to peer pressure and support group opinions. Illusion of Control; it's human nature to believe we have more control over outcomes than we really do. There's many more natural behavioural patterns, I'll be sending my notes to my list in a couple of weeks and will post them all here too. I hope I'm not the only one who finds this psychological stuff interesting? Tell me to shut up now |

| Hi Louise, I have been in business working for myself now for nearly 30 years and I can't stress enough the importance of the whole psychological side of marketing. Getting inside your customers minds and finding out how they tick is a must if your to be successful in any business and that is where a lot of Newbies go wrong, they fail to understand the true significance of the need to understand the whole psychology of selling. In fact I think it is so important that I have written a book on the subject in the hope to try and get the message across and to help others. Good Luck |
