Hey, I signed up to the Amazon Affiliate Program with a website which contained a brand name in the url. I was rejected by them because they said that they don't allow brand names in the url. Do they care about this just when you sign up or do they control this for every product you promote to Amazon. I don't want to create a site and then get my account deleted because of this. thanks, capo |

They don't want to deal with being sued. It's that simple and that doesn't change "after".

In the domain name will be a problem, but in the url it won't be. You can sign up with a generic website domain and use another domain name later. There are so many affiliates using product names in domains for amazon. I do it as well. Problem is, the moment you have stuff like "sony, panasonic, LG" etc. in your domain, THEN you are playing with fire. Reinhardt |

Ok, thanks. So canonpowershotXP3i.com would be better than canoncameras.com , right? I think I will just give it a try. |

you can try "powershotxp3i.com". I don't think that would be a problem since "canon" is the brand.

Ok, what I meant was if Amazon tracks every affiliate sale and checks the referrer. At the signup it is clear that you are not allowed to have a brand in the domain, but if you take the code and put it on another site with a brand in the domain do they also track this? Of course the brand could take your domain down but is this also a problem with Amazon? Sorry, but I still don't get this |

I agree, i would avoid having any product names in your domain name as if your site gets successful then the manufacturers will sue you for copyright. I've seen many website owners get burnt. You are better off with a generic domain name that matches what you selling then having a separate page name the name of the product your tageting as Jenn Dize mentions
