Default Still feel like I'm flailing around in the dark

I've written over 100 articles on EZA alone not to mention other AD's and web 2.0 properties. I set up an email list. I've started the link juicer to help with back links. I just can't get my site to rank anywhere worthwhile and it appears all of my rankings have actually dropped. I was getting 100-125ish visitors a day but now I'm down to 30-40.

Is there a simple outline that someone can point me to so I can see what I'm doing wrong? I just feel like I've done a lot of work and I'm just not getting any results back from it. I don't mind work, but I mind working for free

Thanks!
Felix

could be one of many factors that is effecting your results.

1- the keywords that you optimized for don't have a good monthly search volume (anything over 1k is good).
2- the competition for those keywords are too stiff to compete with which would bury you in the SERPS.
3- Your on page seo is correct.

Normally it works like this in a nut shell.

1] Find keywords that get 5k+ a month using the Google keyword tool
2] Obtain a domain (.com, .org. or .info) using your keywords in your url somewhere.
Example...if your keywords are make money then try
makemoney.com and if those are taken just add words to the url something like
How To Make Money Online
3] Use your keywords in your URL and pepper them through the page of content.
4] Write articles for each page leaving your anchor text link as your author bio.

If you do all that and your still not ranked then keep writing articles until you rank #1 on Google.

If you still don't show up then your site was probally sandboxed by Google for an undetermined amount of time until it will be back in the SERPS.

Best of Luck!!!!

Is the traffic to your site coming in direct from Google or via your articles and web 2.0.

It’s difficult to pin point exactly what’s wrong without knowing the full in's and out's.

I would be looking at things like.

Is my web 2.0 and EZA ranking in the SERP’s for my keywords.
If so are visitors clicking on my links
If not maybe change Bio and links.
No Traffic to EZA then the articles need Back linking
or maybe the competition for that Keyword is strong.
Look at the views for each article and Web 2.0 have they gone down.
Have you put any fresh content on your site.

Just a few thoughts.

Hope they help.

Hey Felix,

Well I have spent AAA Loooot of cash on this and that product. More then I care to reveal here but what really helped me was the seomarketersbootcamp.com by Don and Jeramey of this forum. It really helped me with SEO and ranking but it did take a while just doing it manually. They are having a great sale for worriors right NOW! HERE

Check them out but even if you don't try dropping Jeramey a PM maybe he can clear some things up for you. I would bet it was your keyword research.

Rob

Quality vs quantity, my friend. You may be an excellent writer, but are the articles keyword-optimized?

create 5 or 6 onsite articles using keywords that have a search volume of at least 500 and less than 50 000 direct matching competing pages. write 1 article a day and submit to articlebase linking back to your first onsite article. Repeat this for all 5 or 6 of your onsite articles. Now create 5 more articles and put them on your website. Remember less than 50000 competing pages and at least a search volume of 500, preferably higher. Now submit one article a day reffering to your new set of 5 articles. Now you should have 10 or 12 onsite articles and 10 or 12 articles submitted to your article directory of choice. Now start again submitting articles, 1 a day linking back to your first onsite article and continue this until you have reached article 10 or 12 on your website. That's your SEO work done for now. Keywords are the trick here. You want a healthy search volume, I usually try to find keywords with about 2000 searches a month and less than 50 000 competing pages. You should get your individual onsite articles ranked fairly easy and should be getting a good chunk of 20 000 a month for all your pages combined. Plus your ezine will be ranked high which will also bring you some traffic

Hi Felix,

All of the advice above is good. But I just have a small suggestion to you - I suggest you do not rely 100% on organic traffic. It is good, but you just can have more control on traffic, when driving it from other sources: forum marketing, Yahoo Answers, Squidoo.

Also, as you are building a list, when you get a list of not less than 500 people, you can start doing ad swaps, so this will help you grow your list much faster.

Hope this helps
Alex

Hi Felix

I'd agree that relying totally on organic traffic is not enough. My sig may help you with that.

Cheers
Roy

Thanks all for the replies

To be honest, I know some of my KW's aren't the best as far as buying keywords, but I know I have some good ones that convert pretty well. All of my articles are SEO'd pretty well. It's just annoying that I had all first page spots for about half of my KW's and since then they've slowly fallen off into oblivion. As far as forum traffic, just about every forum in the acne niche doesn't allow sig's or you have to pay for them. The price for paying for a sig file isn't bad, but it doesn't make sense as a lot of forums barely have any people reading them. Yahoo answers really was a bust for me. I spent a good 3 weeks writing tons of replies. I got a lot of best answers, but barely any traffic and AR's. Maybe I was doing it wrong? Anyways the reason I focus on articles and SEO is because that's what was working for me. I was making 150-200 week and then my earnings just started dropping

Do you guys think I'm targeting to many keywords and should instead shoot for one keyword, rank for that, then move on?
