Hello warriors, My first post on the warrior was spam, I am big and ugly enough to admit it however over the many years I have been here I have learnt the best ways to promote and how to do it legit! What have you learnt and how has it changed the way you are today? Danny |

I've been here almost 5 months now and I've learned a massive amount in that time When I joined here I had only been doing IM for 4 months or so, mostly MLM. I have to be completely honest(as per your opening post in the thread) and say my reasons for joining were probably 50% to learn and participate and 50% to get more interest in the sites and opportunities I was promoting at that time. I was quickly brought back down to earth with a bump though. Firstly, I had browsed around a little but didn't fully understand WF etiquette. My first mistake was to ask for feedback on the site in my sig after just a few posts. I genuinely wanted feedback and advice(wasn't really happy with the layout and look of it) but it being a blog full of MLM content and links, it didn't go down so well and was quickly deleted.I was a little frustrated by this, mainly because I genuinely was just looking for advice and feedback. Any interest in the sites I was promoting would of course have been nice too, but that wasn't the main reason for posting it. Next up, I logged on one day and my avatar was mysteriously gone This was another area where I was nieve and paid the price. It was a pic of a female celebrity, and being a newbie I really didn't understand that people could get the wrong idea about using these kinds of pics for avatars. On other(non IM) forums I have been on I have pretty much never used a pic of myself, I'd rather use pics of guitars or celebs, or whatever. Not to deceive anyone, just because I'm a pretty private person.Next mistake - I started a thread in this main section asking why my avatar was deleted. A male newbie with a few posts using a female avatar with MLM stuff in his sig.........it wasn't going to end well I got accused of a few things in that thread, being a 'scammer' etc etc. I was annoyed and actually a little hurt by the skepticism and anger towards me in that particular thread but I decided just to move on rather than retaliate. After all, I knew I was the exact opposite of what I was being accused of - my wife and Mum etc would tell you I'm honest to a fault at times. After that, I got my head down and just soaked up as much info as I could here. I literally learned something new every single day. As each day passed I started to realise that I wasn't making the most of the skills I have, and followed the lead of some very knowledgeable people here and started to explore niche/affiliate marketing. After a few weeks, I moved away from MLM completely. It gave me a reasonable start in terms of learning about IM, but I'm just not suited to it. I admire guys like Mike Dillard and a bunch of others, but it's just not for me. In August myself and my wife created our main niche site. Probably 95% of the stuff we applied was learned here Our site is not yet 3 months old yet and we've earned a couple of hundred dollars from it, got a decent list and are doing well in a pretty competitive niche in terms of SEO(we are 'dancing' at the moment though). In the last few months we've created a bunch of other sites too. I've also moved into CPA and made a good start in that too. What have I learned specifically since my first post? I'll break it down:- -On page and off page SEO -Building a list -Article Marketing -CPA -Building and maintaining sites -Social bookmarking/RSS feeds etc ....and much more. I've always promised myself that when I have my first $100 day($82 is my best so far) I'll start a thread with a list of thank you's to all the people who have helped me. There's a list of 10 or so, and most of them probably have no idea how much they've helped me. Being a part of the WF in general has given me a daily IM education and I feel I'm getting close to reaching my goals on a consistent basis. When I do, I'll owe so much to this place. I'm someone that always appreciates help and generosity so I'll be giving back as much as I can in the coming weeks, months and years. As my user title say's though, I'm currently still serving my apprenticeship. And there's no better place to serve it |

I've learned that in the UK, they use the word "learnt" - ...seriously, the amount of info here is overwhelming. I have been able to take my narrowly focused mind into realms of IM I didn't even know existed. One of the favorite things I've learned (learnt) wasn't actually posted here, but there was a link to it. It involves using some very clever tactics in your writing in order to get people to do what you want, which in my case is usually to click on a link. And yes, Steven. You have spent way too much time here. LOL ![]() Allen |

I have learned/learnt that it takes time! I wanted overnight success but soon became to realise that it just aint gonna happen... well it can and it does but not in the first 2 minutes. The warrior forum etiquette is quite unique but I do like it here! I got bitch slapped a bit in the start but I soon learnt Danny |

I got moaned at for self promoting by someone who has one of the biggest egos on here... I was just rapped with a cracking result yet was given a big kick in the nuts!! I like seeing all the newbies begging for ways to make milllions online and in their sigs they are saying how they make millions licking dustbins for a living!! ... brillliant ....cracks me up every time....lol I also wished I had listened to the gurus when they said write articles or use wordpress but me being me knew a better way.. how I have learnt now! In my whole 40 posts (woohoo catching up Steven ) I've learnt that it doesn't matter what you learn here if you're not going to take action.Personally the theory of taking action makes perfect sense - it is just the practice that requires a bit more work in my case...... |

What have I learned? Goodness, way too much. Time to stop learning and start doing. Crubalo, the only way to get good at writing/contributing/inspiring is by practicing. So, no worries. |

Even in just the last week I've learnt a lot. I know now enough to listen to those sage souls who wander the forum issuing dire warnings like 'Make sure your back-up isn't corrupt', 'Make sure your back-up is up-to-date' and 'The REAL Reason You'll Never Make A Million From Your Badly Backed-Up And About-To-Croak-It Hard Drive!' A living, breathing brain donor no longer walks among you. I know much better now |

I've learned that there are an awful lot of parrots here that have no idea what they're talking about. I've learned that there are some quiet people here that make more money than you'd ever imagine, but aren't part of the guru scene. |

It's ok, I write novels all the time on here (no one reads them), so don't feel too embarrassed. The people who take the time to read it may get something that the rest won't, so just make sure that every time you write those novels that you are giving something they will want to read anyways... Here are a few things I've learned related to the Forum itself: Well my experience from my first post till now, is that people don't actually like free things, but that's because they see the potential to capitalize on that thing, and cringe at the idea of having it out there for free, especially if it is something good. Basically this is a marketing forum, there will always be someone seeing potential in something, even if you don't. Which is too bad, especially if that is your own thing. There are also an unspoken set of rules on here, and there are always two sides, and if you take the side which isn't on the majority, you can easily become the black sheep. Some examples: article spinning (some people think it's fine, others think it's junk), Ezine articles (anytime this name is mentioned, there come a whole slew of people who either say boycott it, go elsewhere, get your own blog.... and then the others who use EZA and love the traffic etc...) Unspoken rule(s): 1000 posts= give something back to the forum. Thankyou button is there to thank the people, so you don't have to make a useless post saying "thank you". etc... The war room will chew your brain out, if you are a noob, because there is so much free content and ideas in there, and I'm sure a few people's heads have exploded since. Everyone wants to learn something, but warriors can get highly annoyed if they just come in and post something like "i want to make money, how?", without actually using the search function on the forum, or without specifying exactly what they were interested in doing in the first place. Things are not as bad as they seem, When I first came here, I thought that it was harsh, that I got banned so much, and some people just seemed to "hate" me. But that was all silly. No one has time to really hate anyone on here, people are here to get their marketing business running. Anyways, the very first infraction I received back in the day, was from RichJerksNet (thanks!), and I thought what the fudge!?! Then immediately after, I was banned. I thought what the heck again.... and for: self promotion, spamming (to increase post count) and then something else I was banned for. So even though I was banned, and thought this forum is tough, I actually appreciate it more because I was banned. You cannot find the same sort of cleanliness on other forums, nor can you find the same filtering system, where the junk gets removed, even if it's users and their B.S. (including myself at times!!) You will either love this forum or hate it, if you hate it go elsewhere. LOL

With my first post last week I learnt to go down the one lane road and to concentrate on that and not take the multi-lane approach and basically get lost + confused easily done at this stage. Then in this post I've learnt about the thanks button. So Acrasial some people read your posts lol. Also what a friendly and helpful site this is, Dare I say a big family atmosphere. So a big thanks to everyone from this newbie.

Ok, since yesterday.... I have learned that I can really make it in this industry, I have also learned to stick to one tactic & get that one mastered before jumping into the next one-which is really hard for me because something different/better is always around the corner- I keep reminding myself that I don't want to become a jack of all trades and a master of none.

Warrior Forum is addictive. I can't imagine a day passing by without being in this forum. Truth be told, I feel more connected here than some of my family members. To answer the OP's question, I cannot really detail all the things I have learned, but if I were to state the most important, it would be refraining myself from buying new products unrelated to my business model.

I came here with a basic idea that SEO was just sticking a bunch of words in your web pages for no good reason, and not knowing the first thing about keyword research. Today, I'm cutting the sales video for a product about SEO and keyword research. The speed and quality of the education I've gotten on the WF is almost unbelievable. Blows my mind every week.

I have learned to set aside my natural skepticism. Although there is still no such thing as a free lunch, there are LOTS of people on this forum willing to go out of their way to lend a helping hand.
