Here's what I'm learning:

I got scattered and bored writing about buildmylens on a daily basis so I switched to the debt and credit niche. NO sales...these people are BROKE! lol (j/k the affiliate products may not convert well - obviously).

Then I started promoting my guide2ebooks site and sales DID increase for that since then but I have no way of knowing as I don't poll those customers. Sales of my Squidoo guide are increasing too.

Lesson: When you make a plan, stick to it. Don't get sidetracked like I did. I plan to go back to my roots.

Also, anyone know about this? Remember I bought the Premium membership on about Sept 25th? Well A few days ago, I knew I didn't want to renew it, so before I forgot, I went in and canceled the subscription. Well instead of letting me use up my month, it canceled it right then and there. I don't think I've ever bought a membership where they didn't go ahead and let you use up the portion you'd bought!

Now I feel ripped off

That's awful - I was considering whether or not to keep my premium membership as well, but I decided to hold on to it for another month. I wouldn't be at all happy about that though - I think you should contact support and complain.

I definitely agree.

While this may be excused as yet another CS mistake, you should at the very least get your 1 month for 97 friggin dollars!

I submitted my 2 articles for today, and will update stats tomorrow. My next few articles for one niche will be very practical. I want to see if that makes a difference in getting picked up by ezine owners.

I may also try to contact some sites in my niche and see if they are interested in practical suggestions for their subscribers: just trying to see what else I can do with my articles, other than submit them to EZA and other directories.

Glad to know that.

By the way, it is almost a month, is it possible to give a general summary of the responses and results of the challenge, for example: Out of x%, y% have posted atleast 1 article per day, maximum number of articles submitted by a person so far, total number of articles submitted etc.

Thanks!

I slacked off on updating this thread for a few days, but I have been writing and posting articles. I've decided I'm too lazy to break it all down by niche, so I'll just summarize it all together.

Articles Written: 35
Articles Published: 27
Views: 1993
Clicks: 517
Sales: 1

I'm a little disappointed in my sales. It took me a little bit to get my referral ids fixed up, so I don't have perfect stats on how the hops break down by product. In any case I would expect a little better conversion rate.

For one of the niches I'm pushing people to an autoresponder, which I've received a fair number of signups for. Another niche I'm building a site, so I'm getting backlinks if all else fails.

Early in Day 25

In my newer niche:

Live Articles - 7
Views - 517
Clicks - 106
Sales - 2

Brand spankin new niche (with 1 article 1 day old and the other live this morning):

Live Articles - 2
Views - 101
Clicks - 7
Sales - 0

I don't know this new niche as well so I'm having to spend more time on research right now.

Meanwhile, the original 2 sites I started with have gained in opt-ins and AdSense $ and I'll tally that up at the end of this 30 day thing.

Wonder how many people are still doing this, there's not much posting activity going on anymore (I know, I'm guilty too ).

I'm still working on the challenge but only submitting one article a day - I'd planned to do more but just don't have the time at the moment.

I am still here submitting every day. I actually went from one article a day to 2 a day, because I wanted to continue with my initial niche, but also wanted to add Christmas to the mix.

I have a very busy weekend coming up family wise, so I already posted my articles for today, and will only pop in online tomorrow night enough to submit my 2 articles for tomorrow.

I'll update my stats again on Sunday evening.

I just submitted 4 articles to EZA and will be submitting the rest of the
21 articles by the coming 2 days (that's the goal).

This is what happens when I don't get my new batch of articles to play
with because I have to request for it. I thought it would be automated
until I sent a support ticket over to ask for more article slots to submit.

Going to rush out the articles before the 30-Day Challenge end!

Final Stretch!

I put all my postings and updates in my blog so I don't clog up the posts with all my updates. Plus, it's easier for me to find my posts too.

Your welcome.

Yes I do only have one landing page for all of my STF articles. As for sharing the URL I'm kind of unsure whether I should or not. On one hand it would be good to be completely open and help teach other warriors, on the other hand I'm reluctant to because I hate it when people steal my stuff and I'm really not sure what value it would do since it's not converting anyway. I'll think about it ..

Well, I must thank you again Tiffany and everyone else here for keeping me positive and a bit motivated.

My original 10 articles are producing some clickbacks and from that my adsense has jumped a bit. Still no sales yet on any of this though.

I have been doing some other reading about affiliate marketing and doing reviews so I just created a post in my blog reviewing and comparing 4 non IM products. I then created and submitted a new article to EZA and GoArticles.

Just finished doing that now so will see where it goes when EZA clears the article and I start getting hits on it.

Will keep everyone posted.

Hi Tracey
I know how you feel...however if the landing page is not converting I don't think anyone would want to rip-it-off...??

Are you collecting emails before the prospect can continue to the merchant page?
If you are not...then you could try sending them direct to the merchant. Looking at the CB stats the gravity is 129 so it should be converting 1:100 or so?

Day 28

In the newer niche:

Live Articles - 7
Views - 535
Clicks - 110
Sales - 2

Newest niche:

Live Articles - 2
Views - 123
Clicks - 8
Sales - 0

Slow weekend for me for both niches.
Did notice one article has a 64% click thru rate. I'll keep my eye on that one to see if it's the keywords, my bio box, or what.

I just counted up all my articles and I am actually right on - 28 days and 28 articles, although 4 of them are pending.

Peggy
P.S. Way to go Adriana and Tracey!
Maybe I should switch to promoting Blog Cash?

TiffanyDow's Article Marketing Challenge
Day 0 to Day 30 Results

First of all, thanks to Tiffany for a great thread with a chance to win some great prizes. The only goal that I had in mind when I joined this challenge was to commit to submitting at least an average of 1 new article per day.

So, here's what I had in the beginning:
9 Live Articles
672 Views
30 Clicks

And now, after the 30 days, this is what I have:
33 Live Articles (with 10 still pending)
1320 Views
107 Clicks

The unforunate throughout the 30 Days - I made zero sales. Seeing how some people made sales and I had none kind of made me sad. However...

The great thing throughout the 30 Days:
1. Achieved my goal of at least 1 article per day
2. Found out which niche I really enjoyed writing about
3. Discovered that there's so much to learn about article marketing
4. Discovered I enjoyed learning despite having so much to learn
5. Found some really useful resources for future articles
6. I am as passionate about internet marketing today as I was on day 1
7. Keeping records really help to gauge how much I've progressed and what I can do to improve
8. Understood that things can only get better from here on out
9. To come full circle, having an achievable goal that stretched me is what helped me grow through these 30 days

So, that's my results after the 30 days. I enjoyed every single day that I created articles and am glad that I did so despite the challenges I face on a daily basis to create my articles.

What next after this? Next challenge that I'm setting for myself is to learn how to improve my click through rates in my articles.

Way to go everyone!

I never did get back on track after my week of illness, but that's okay. I feel good with what I did accomplish and I've got some ideas for new AM projects in the near future.

I can't believe 30 days is up already!

Hey Asher,
Even though the 30 days are over, this thing is not done yet.

1. You still have 10 articles pending.
2. The results of your 43 articles is far-reaching, not just here and now.

I think we should revisit this contest after another 30 days to see where the articles we wrote NOW are and what they've done for us.

This was a great contest, but to really see the results will take some time. Article marketing builds up and multiplies, it's not necessarily a quick, overnight thing.

Peggy

Congratulations everyone! I was all over the board myself - I'd post 3-4 articles one day and none for 3-4 more days. I did not achieve consistency. I did make money that I know of - 1 definite sale, but not sure about those I used to promote my other products.

I CAN say that traffic has increased by about 20 a day to BuildMyLens.com since Sept 23rd (right around the time we started this). It had the same effect on my Guide2eBooks.com site (because I began publishing articles for that too) - about 20 a day more unique hits.

Sales of that second product have risen by 6 sales this month over previous months so I suspect the articles have had an impact.

I'll be looking through everything today and tonight and will announce the winner tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone for supporting each other. Warriors Do It Best!
Tiff

Hi Peggy,

You're right - it's far from over. And you brought up a good idea to revisit this contest after 30 days. I think it's better to have it in another thread because this one's about to burst at the seams.

But that will be up to Tiffany to decide. I believe I'll still be doing this in my own Warrior blog and keeping records there.

This challenge has been very educational and helpful for me.

Hi Tracy - This is very interesting. I am brand new to IM. And this is oddly enough the first time I am reading this thread and the contest is just about over. For my very first product on clickbank I decided to try promoting STF. I only have a few articles out there and I've done some social bookmarking and got a few good google ranks and have made 12 sales in the last month. I don't think my review page is that great since I'm so new but I kind of wonder what I may have done "right". I'm actually looking to promote other products now after my success with this one.

What say you Tiff?
We could call the thread the 30 Day Challenge Reunion.

Hi linm,

Nice work! You probably did something right. Now that you've made
sales in it, stick with this niche! Find out what you did right and keep
doing it over and over again.

Don't try promoting something else until you discover what it is that
got you your success in your current one.

Success in internet marketing isn't trying to achieve a lot of things at
once but finding one thing done right and repeating that process.

Thanks for the advice Asher. I kind of wonder how great of a product it really is since I already have a return on it. I also know returns are a part of the business though. I'll definitely see this through before I change any niches around. It is fun experimenting.

Default Re: Tiffany Dow’s 30-Day Warrior Article Marketing Challenge

I know this challenge was about writing articles and making sales, but I would like to discuss some of the less tangible aspects of article writing.

1. Just because I submitted these articles to EZA doesn't mean they own them. I now have 30 more pieces of real estate I can do whatever I want with. I can post them on my blogs or my websites, send them out to my list, offer them to my affiliates, etc.

2. My credibility as a writer has increased because of the number of articles I've published.
As a direct result of writing articles, I've been offered the chance to be a permanent guest writer for 2 high traffic blogs. I've also been asked to be part of the team on a high traffic website to work on a new project with them.

3. By doing research for these articles I have gained a lot of knowledge that will help me:
write more articles faster in this niche
answer questions on forums
be seen as an expert on this subject
enable me to put together a product in this niche if I want to
4. The daily average views for one of my own sites I was writing for, Cookin' Kids, is up 27%. This means more opt-ins, more AdSense, and most likely some sales down the road.

5. My articles have shown up on several legitimate websites. I still get hits from my first articles I wrote over 1 1/2 years ago. And I admit I like to see my articles on REAL websites.

I've learned a lot with this 30 day challenge -
  • Don't change niches in the middle of a challenge unless you've thrown a lot more articles at each niche than I did.
  • Don't get lazy about keyword research like I did with the first 6 articles.
  • Take what I've learned from what I've done here and what everyone else has had success with, analyze it, and run with it.
  • I wanted to hit the mark of 10,000 total views of all my articles. As of right now it stands at 11,238.
  • I still like to write. J
I would like to see this challenge revisited. Some of these articles are only a few days old and I have 4 still pending.

Thanks for challenging me Tiff!

Peggy

Peggy, I totally agree with you about having all these articles to use again and again. as a matter of fact, I am planning to continue 30 day challenges of my own form now on, and my next challenge is to create a squidoo lens a day for 30 days. I can take some of the content I wrote for this article challenge, and re-purpose it for lens creation.

I am so thankful I participated! Thanks Tiffany for challenging us. The biggest take away I got form this challenge is that I CAN focus and get things done if I really want to.

I am also going to take my 30 articles and create a blog for this site: I'll change the titles a little bit, add/subtract some content in the body of the article, and increase my virtual real estate. It will also further help me climb up in Google for this particular site, which is slowly but surely getting closer to the first page (in MSN is on the first page for every key phrase I checked).

I have so many ideas swimming in my head now... and it feels great!

Congratulations to the folks who completed this challenge.

I am looking forward to having the opportunity of working with the people whom Tiffany deem winners.

But just so I don't give the wrong idea. Every single person who participated in this challenge is a winner. You DID benefit from this in one way or another...trust me.

Thanks for a very exciting month,

Submitted my 30th article today. Finally complete the challenge. Here's my stats:

Articles Submitted - 30
Articles Live - 27
Pending - 3
Total Article Views - 18
Total Ezine Publisher - 12
Total URL Clicks - 145
Total Opt-in - 7
Total Sales - 0

While the results are a bit disappointing, at least I manage to complete the challenge as I only joined at the half-way point. Now I shall go figure out what can be done to improve the result!
