Well I got ONE article published on Fri - but it was an article submitted before this challenge -- all the others are still waiting

However when the guys at ezinearticles get back to my account they will find even more articles to read and approve

I am thinking about rewriting the articles waiting in line at EZines and submitting them to other directories also. Maybe next week. I know those would not count for this challenge, sort of a separate experiment.

I just submitted my 6th article for the challenge – Squidoo Social Network Is a Boon to Internet Marketers – (keyword phrase in bold) - and got my latest stats to share. I’m checking the first 5 pages of Google to see where I am for the keywords I was targeting, too:

How to Squidoo From Start to Finish – 32 views, 2 publishers, 3 URL clicks (1 to socialmarketing101, 2 to buildmylens), 1 vote – WOW! Already #6 on Google for “how to Squidoo.” That was fast! This right here is making me think Premium might pay off if I was targeting various keywords and wanted almost instant Google top rankings.

Squidoo Marketing Mistakes You Should Avoid 27 views, 1 publisher, 1 URL click to buildmylens, 1 vote (keyword is Squidoo Marketing and one of the publishers who picked up my article is #20 – page 2 – and another publisher is #23 on page 3 – and my Twitter EZA post is #43 - but my original EZA article is not on the first 5 pages.

Make Money With Squidoo Using Professional Content 23 views, 0 publishers, 2 URL clicks to buildmylens. For the keyword phrase “make money with Squidoo,” someone is using the first part of my article with no link and no rest of the article, either. They’re at the bottom of page 5.
On Squidoo - Everyone Can Make Money 18 views, 1 publisher, 1 URL click to socialmarketing101, 1 vote – now #42 on Google for “on Squidoo.”

Squidoo Still Holds Power in the SERPs 17 views, 1 publisher, 1 URL click to buildmylens – not in the top 5 on Google yet

I just submitted my sixth article. So far I have 3 approved, with a total of 59 views, and 15 clicks to my landing page. From the lens, 6 people have clicked through to the sales page I'm promoting. No sales as of yet.

I'd love to do this but I'm useless at research.
Keywords bore the pants off me, and you can bet your life that all the stuff I pump out every day into this keyboard from this head of mine, wouldn't be of any use to anyone.
Therefore, the chances of any of my articles being accepted is probably nil.

I've come to the conclusion that Tiffany Dow is an Android.
How can 'one' human fit so many hours worth of work into 24 hours?

I'm going to 'stalk' this post as I find it absolutely fascinating.
If we're getting links to all of the posts as well, that would be a great education for those of us who struggle with 'Article' writing.

I can't tell if my first sale came from a person finding me from my article or from google traffic but I got a sale!!!!! I have only had 17 clicks for the article that could have made the sale thus far so I think that is pretty good.

The best part is that it is a recurring commission.

Thanks for everything guys. It really is so simple to just write an article or two a day and bam you get hit with a sale that just keeps on giving.

Okay, I'm all caught up with my article submissions. I have six articles submitted, and all six are still waiting to be approved.

I am using Dragon naturally speaking to write the articles. This is making article marketing super easy. I never wanted to do article marketing because I hated writing. Now, I'm all about it. All I need to do is sit here and talk and say some punctuation marks. This is absolutely awesome.

The accuracy is actually very awesome! It is making my life very easy and I am expecting my income to increase exponentially because of this.

Anyway, keep on plugging away everyone. You Can Do It!

Just submitted my 9th article for this challenge. Now I have 4 pending, including today's article. 5 published so far.

Stats so far are not too impressive, but part of the reason may be that I'm targeting keywords with immense competition! ;-) That's okay though, my objective with this challenge is to get some solid backlinks built up and over time let my site rise in the search engine ranks for these coveted keywords.

To that end I will be adding more content to the site, contacting potential affiliates, and working on a few other things.

My biggest challenge is that I don't have a ton of time to devote to this, so I will be making slow progress. Better slow than not at all, I guess.

Just updated my results - things are picking up, I finally got a few sales! Only submitted two articles this weekend. In fact I'll probably cut back to one or two articles every day for the next few days because I need to work on some of my sites.

Submitted 10 articles in the insurance area that did convert into 4 leads so far, $8 each.

Submitted 15 articles on an affiliate dating product but zero conversions, very frustrating. But that's the game, testing niches and finding out what works.

Still parked in the first red zone for all my articles and I've reached my limit, both in # articles I can post and in patience. If EZA take so long to start reviewing an article, how long are they going to take to approve Platinum membership?

Not giving up - yet. Just have to look at other areas to channel targeted traffic to the site.

Well, unfortunately I have to post in shame today. It's day 7, but I never posted my day 6 update. I had a bunch of stuff in the morning, ended up busy in the afternoon, and then took a nap before going out for the whole evening and well into the night. By the time I got home I was too tired to even post my backup articles, so I'm now a day behind. I felt kind of bad, although my morning was busy with a walk for diabetes, so I figure that balances out a bit karma-wise.

My plan is to write and post 4 articles before I go to bed, so I should be all caught up later on tonight.

Hi Warriors!

Well today I posted another article. I’m liking this one a day deal. It was called “For Squidoo Affiliate Success – keyword phrase in bold - and I changed it from something I had earlier because I wanted to target affiliates rather than just lens buyers. (more sales!)

So basically, I talked about how Squidoo affiliates can make more promoting tutorials and services for Squidoo than info products and tangibles. ie: a lens commission for a VIP pack is $119 compared to an Amazon book that brings in a dollar or so.

Another woohoo for me today – but article marketing of a different kind. Back when I first wrote the first book on Squidoo (thanks to Warrior James Allen) people would say, “Tiff’s the Squidoo Queen around here…” blah blah blah. Well everyone advised me not to get a domain with Squidoo in it. Hence the socialmarketing101 URL.

So some other savvy marketer went and registered SquidooQueen.com and capitalized on that. So I wanted a piece of that title and I submitted an article to my blog at socialmarketing101.com for keyword phrase Squidoo Queen and one day later, voila! Page 1 on Google #8 for “Who’s the REAL Squidoo Queen?”

Hee hee.

I’m going to publish my EZAs on my own blog, too.

Here’s my stats – I have 3 awaiting approval - I guess cuz it’s the weekend.

This is a HUGE myth that seems to circulate constantly and just isn't the case. I currently have an article for one my keyword phrases in BOTH 2nd and 3rd slots on Google. I submitted it to EZA originally and then to ArticleDashboard.com (I think that's the one), and both of the rank extremly well. They are identical, and Google seems to like them just fine.

The 'duplicate penalty' that I believe started the whole term had to do with having the exact same content on your own site multiple times at different URLs.

Yes if you make one mistake in your submission they will not move you to platinum level. They will keep you at basic plus. It's important that you read the editorial guidelines and make sure that you get those submissions correct. After you are promoted to platinum level it doesn't matter anymore.

I am hoping to have more articles approved this week and looking to improve my click through rates on certain keywords. This was a great idea Tiffany thanks for starting this thread.

Though I'm not in this challenge, here's a tip for everyone:

For best results (sales) concentrate on "buying" keywords and avoid non-buying keywords. For example in Traceye's list above...

"emotional eating" is less likely to be a "buying keyword". Anyone searching for that is less likely to be looking to buy a product. 'Perhaps' they are looking to be merely informed.

The same goes for "fad diets". Again the person searching is of course not looking to buy a fad diet. Yes you could argue that you could then try and sell them something that is not a fad diet. But the key is their frame of mind - "Are they looking for something to buy!"

By contrast those searching for "hot abs, ab exercises, weight loss motivation," are more likely to be persuaded to buy and are probably more easily persuaded too.

Traceye (& everyone else) you could also target actual product names and model numbers too...

Though very few people search for say "Sony Plasma XJ-2YT-4 blackscreen" (I made that up), just 50 people searching for that are infinitely more likely to buy (via your Amazon affiliate link ... & there's less competition for that phrase) than 50 people searching for "plasma TV" (which has huge searches and huge competion and IS NOT a "buying" phrase).

You see, with plasma TV, you have no idea what they want. It could be they're looking to find out about plasma TVs. Mentally they're very far from the buying stage, relatively.

With a specific product or model number, you know that they already know what they want. They're much closer to the buying stage.
