Hey, I know this may sound a bit silly on here but I would prefer to ask, i want to start selling some of my sites and I don't know how to transfer over a domain name and hosting. So when some one buys my site what do I have to do so they now own the domain and can host it on their own account and how much does it cost to do this? I want to easiest and smoothest way for the buyer, thanks |

Depends where you have the domain registered but often there's a "push" feature, where you just push it to the buyer's account... that's the easiest way... depending on where it's registered though, just check with them an explain and they'll let you know how you can do this. For transferring the files / database, if you have cpanel, you can just give them access to this and ftp and they should be able to move it or get a webmaster to move it for them. Btw, what are the sites you're looking to sell... PM if you prefer. |

Based on my experiences: 1. Domain transfer: a. make sure your customer have the same registrar with yours to make it easy to transfer. for example, if your registrar is godaddy, suggest them to register in to it. just say "it's free to join". there are always some "push domain" featured over each registrar. just googling them or you could also search it in youtube since each registrar have their own ways. b. Inform them to make clarification in their own account that you have pushed the domain. 2. For hosting i usually transfer 2 of the files: database and webfile. a. Database: if you have CPanel base hosting account. just simply go to php my admin and choose your database name. usually for word press start with wrdp_xxx. just export them and get the sql database. b. Web file: I'm using ftp (filezilla for free). choose and backup your webfile. i mean all to customer. Just download all the webfile to your comp hardisk. c. send both files to your customer. all "non newbie" customer usually already known what should to do with the both files. 3. the web transfer pricing is difficult to express, usually i make it free for my customer, as my service. but not all customer eager to give the cpanel username and password, since it is necessary if they want us to install the site in their hosting.. Hopefully it could help.. |
