Default One Page Websites Vs. Organized Multi-Page sites

So, we've all seen them before. Some of us probably have one or two or a dozen floating around. These things get on my nerves like mad! One page sites that dump every ounce of information they have right down the middle of the frame so you can scroll down for a good twenty seconds. You know what I'm talking about....

I guess my question or discussion here is. Why is this method chosen over a multi-page, organized layout? Are they even productive? I've seen a million one-pagers and far less organized sites. I would think an organized site would be where it's at. Or am I just being OCD about it?

Hope all is well with you!

Kevin

I agree with you

The one page sales sites are the most popular on the internet.
but I have a few problems with them:

1. To much fluff to fill space
2. takes to long to read 5 minutes or more
3. Most people attentions spans are not that long
4. I normally skip to the bottom to see how much it cost

I think the multi-page site is better
They seem more organized
the price is not on the front page
leaves some mystery

Also if buyers are searching for a product or service they are no going to spend
10 minutes reading fluff, when the are 1000's of other products out there.

Because search engines determine how much people like your site by how long they stay on it.

People stay longer on one big long page of info.

So the single long page of stuff tends to rank higher.

As luck would have it, I'm in the middle of writing a report about this.

Search engine loves content sites, and one page site will have less advantage in competing with full blown content site - provided everything is equal.

If I have a one page opt-in site, I would use article marketing to get opt-in traffic, all my contents will flow all over the authority sites, build backlinks and traffic back to my site - a.k.a Link Wheel.

That's just poor copywriting. A sales page should only be as long as it needs to be.

I don't know why but in some circles one page sites seem to be the rage. In my experience, however, multi-page sites consistently KILL one page sites. But really, it all comes down to trying different things and doing what works for you. If you can do it with one page, great, if not, no biggie, add some pages and see what happens.
