I'm using Ping-O-Matic and so far I pinged once every single one of my videos (I'm using video marketing). Any other pinging tips? Appreciated. |

You only need to ping a site once, any more than that is just over kill. If they do not pick your page up the first time then there is really not much you can do about it.

Thats not true on either account. It is fine to ping each entry you make to your blog. Pinging is just one way to draw attention to your blog. Do not put all your eggs in one basket. |

| Are we forced to ping from a blog? Or can we ping any site? I ping my videos, they're certainly not a blog!

You can ping any page that you want. I always ping my blog posts every time its published and even if I syndic8 my blog posts to other blogging platform,I ping them as well.

Danny, You can ping a site several times a day with no problem.. Some ping sites will ban your ip if you do it too much. Let's say your sitemap updates 10 times in a day or you post 10 post on your blog in a day.. Then they are pinged 10 times, this is perfectly normal. If you constantly ping like every 5 minutes someone going to ban you at some point ...lol I think this should be obvious. A ping notifies search engines and directories that you have updated your content and you are asking them to visit it and index it. There is no promises they will index it. James | |

I ping my sites / blogs when I add new content and only ping once a day to let the services know new content is available to spider.. This achieves the same thing as pinging several times a day... Note I would ping at the end of the day in-case I add other content that day |

Does anyone use Yahoo Pipes. I say this as i stack around 5 to 6 different RSS feeds into one and then just ping the yahoo pipes rss which in turns pings all 5 or 6 from one ping. This helps if you have a network of sites on different domains all relevant to one another. Everytime i update my properties i ping. I never ping the same thing twice as that is not needed. |

I ping with new content. I am still very much a baby here but sometimes I get a lot more traffic after a ping and sometimes not. Not sure why but I just keep doing it.
