Wonder how much they paid for x.com?!

One of the KEY features of the new API is no need to first redirect a customer to PayPal to login! Customer confirms details on YOUR site, and NEVER leaves your site!!!

    Nice find Richelo however PayPal have had a payment API for ages now.. named "PayPal Pro". On X dot com it says "...new home...".

    It might work in the US & UK but for people operating from Ireland you need a PayFlow account to use PayPal's API. Another issue it that it's not possible to accept US$ payments via AMEX when operating from the UK via PayPal's API (my own merchant provider also has the same problem).

    Again, nice find, I didn't know they moved their API to X dot com.

    Am I the only one who isn't surprised that it's hard to take American Express in the UK?

      Outside of the business community who travel widely, American Express has never gained much of a foothold in the UK because their fees to retailers are much higher than for Mastercard and Visa and hence demands for cards are low. Don't think it's anything to do with 'American'.

    They originally *were* x.com. I had an account with x.com, and they had a $25 referral fee paid out to affiliates for new accounts - I made a bit of $$ that way back in the day. X.com merged with someone else and it eventually was renamed paypal.com. They've probably never lost the x.com.

    I see a serious, serious ClickBank competitor coming out of this API. Wanted to jump on it when I first heard of the API a few months ago but just don't have the resources.

    I did the Paypal dev course.

    If you look on the dev website they quite often offer it for free and you can do really well be a registered Paypal developer.

    Can you direct me to where PAYPAL says this?!?!?!?

    There is a LIE that says that paypal pro doesn't require you to "redirect a customer to PayPal to login". That is ****BULL****! I actually spoke with a person at paypal that said that you are REQUIRED to clearly present paypal express as an option. SURE, you can accept the credit card, and use paypals processing for your merchant account, BUT you are required to present Express as an option.

    Paypal Express DOES, and MUST, go to paypals website! The whole point is to provide a way to have people use their paypal account and that can only properly work from the browser going to their site. The only other way to do it would be for YOU to accept the username and password, but that would endanger customer accounts, so they won't do it.

    I don't get it. Outside of the adaptive payments(which doesn't seem to offer much), and the mobile app, giropay, recurring charges, automated refunds, manual approval of HRT, WHAT is different?

    I forget if they had auth/capture

    BTW, as of this MINUTE!!!!!!!! The update notice says "Created on: Oct 30, 2009 7:38 PM by admin paypalx - Last Modified: Oct 31, 2009 11:32 PM by admin paypalx"

    Note:
    If you use Website Payments Pro, you must implement both Direct Payment and Express Checkout.
    Look at https://www.x.com/docs/DOC-1328 if you don't believe me!

    AND, of course, express payment works as it used to.
