Hi, I have compiled a book of quotes for Christmas that I will be selling on Amazon.com I really need help with my PDF creation of the book, however. The book was created in Word and the total size is 76MB. However, when I convert it to a PDF the file ends up being 1.5MB and the maximum file size for uploading books to Amazon is 100MB. So here are my questions: Why is the file more than doubling in size when it's converted to a PDF? Most importantly, is there a way to prevent this and if so how do I do it? I really need to get this resolved so I can get the book up on Amazon so any help would be really appreciated. Thanks, |

Hi, have you looked at optimising the pdf document when you save it? adobe.com/designcenter/acrobat/articles/acr7optimize.html (not allowed to post full url...yet). |

From my experience using Adobe PDF my PDF files are always bigger that the Doc version. Would imagine its has to do with the conversion process. I am lost as if your Doc is 76MB and your PDF is only 1.5MB which seems wrong as 1.5MB is less than 76MB. Could you be saying that your PDF is 1.5 Gigs or 1500 MB? It would be very strange that your 76MB Doc turned into a 1.5 Gig file. There is a feature in Adobe to compress the PDF file. How much it compresses I don't know. Not sure what PDf creator you are using... |

and converting it to PDF changed it to 1.5MB, what happened? It shrank. It didn't grow.

You should be fine Maggie . Your pdf file size is just 1.5 MB, so you have lots and lots of MBs left.

Or maybe you mean doubled in size to 150MB? Do you have any bulky images in there with high resolution running up your MB's? If so either make them smaller or a leave out a few, this should help reduce the file size.

Thanks, everyone, The numbers I posted above are actually what the files say. So what happened is that the file was compressed when doing an PDF, not made larger. I realized that I was seeing the 1.5MB as 150MB...my mistake. Just so you know, the file has now uploaded and it's okay. Thanks again for such quick response. |
