  • What is the best car?

Over and over people want the best but they can not define it.

There is not best theme. Your ability to create a compelling presell argument is what makes a product sell or not.

You can put it in any professional wrapper. Nearly any professional looking theme will work just fine.

    OneTheme
    Studio Press
    Elegant Themes
    Unique Blog Designs
    Woo Themes

Lots of great looking products to choose from.

These themes are typically optimized by removing distracting elements (unnecessary widgets, links, ads, eye-catching graphics, etc.) so that the visitor's most desired action is to click on the affiliate link, or adsense ad. Also, the most desired action is presented prominently.

Googling 'affiliate theme', or 'adsense theme', returns gobs of themes.

    I like two themes:

Thesis theme because it's so easy to customize and very nice and clean looking. Takes 5 minutes to set up with some custom fonts and custom header and you have a very nice landing page.

StudioPress Church/Brandford Magazine is great for a site that looks more like a real website.

If your looking for the straight up paid ones go to the wordpress themes clubs there are lots there and they give away free ones at times

Ultimately wordpress is so customizable you can have a not so good one and in no time make it look good

Two easy ones to start with are Flexibility and Semiologic.

I should charge a dollar for this answer. I'd be rich

Each morning, while making my cappuccino, I have the TV on. I know when the car dealers run their commercials - they shout so loud that, for the life of me, I don't know why they've chosen the hearing impaired as their main target market?

Same with squeeze pages - I see one and the word "huckster" instantly comes to mind for that website; I normally just assume that there will be a list of folks claiming that the product/service saved their lives and that I MUST have it too. I don't bother listen to the screaming videos or read the 1" tall headlines shouting at me either - I just close the tab and expect a pop up ad to appear and shout more things at me before the page lets me go. Hucksters....

Those websites have chosen the hearing impaired, visually impaired, and mentally impaired as their target market; go figure.

I make my website look like Blog websites - they use WordPress and if the reader is distracted by ads for CPA products/services I sell I'm hoping they click them. I don't go after the impaired markets.....

I always use the Atahualpa theme - for all my WP sites. You can customise it to be whatever you want it to be. You can use from 1 to 5 sidebars. For affiliate marketing you probably want something fairly plain so you don't distract from the message and that all important link. You can adsense in a sidebar or use a plug in to add it to your posts/pages.

What she said. Atahualpa is great -- I'm still learning it because its so customizable -- but another excellent Adsense theme is BlueSense. Its a theme made just for adsense, and I happily use it on about half my sites, with Atahualpa on the rest.

I've pondered this and I don't believe that there is a "best" wordpress theme for it. That said, I'm not sure that gorgeous magazine themes are necessarily always going to deliver the best results. Sometimes simple and basic works better.

I just worked with ThemeHybrid, using the Structure child theme, and it is great.

In general, the less distracting the theme the better, but...

A optimized AdSense site to get high click-throughs may look differently than an effective affiliate review site for example. If you are doing affiliate reviews, the actual text is very important.

The top offer of your site should always be above the fold (even if that's your AdSense block). Above the fold at the top of the site is the most clicked-on area.

I also like Thesis theme (ease of use, flexible) and StudioPress.

I like the Atahualpa theme because it's so customizable.

I can make a complicated site or a minimalist site with the same theme.

The theme is a little more complex than your standard WP theme, but that's the price of easy customization.

If you need sales letters, you cant beat Jason Keith's landing page templates...

    Landing Page Templates WSO

They'll work with virtually any theme and are well worth the $25.

Do you want to do reviews of affiliate products or just display banners?

If reviews then you can use the GD Star rating plugin on just about any theme. For adsense, if you want to display in the sidebar you can add a text widget with the Adsense code.

There's always Dan Grossman's WP review site too.

If you're displaying banners etc (no reviews) then Carl Ocab's Ultimate Blogging theme is quite good.

    Just my opinion of course
