Default If you use Squidoo or Hubpages...You'll Want to See This!

I found this fascinating...after a study of more than 60,000 keywords, these were some of the results...

Interesting fact #1 - 15% of all keywords had an Ezine article in the top 10 listings!

Interesting fact #2 - Excluding Ezine articles, roughly 7% of the keywords had at least 1 web 2.0 platform in the top 10 listings.

Interesting fact #3 - Squidoo, Hubpages, youtube, and facebook all had about the same penetration (roughly 2.5% of the keywords) … Wordpress.com, typepad, dig, and scribed were about 1/2 the of those…coming in at about 1-1.25% of the keywords.

Interesting fact #4 - blogspot.com was the big winner. For a keyword that has a web 2.0 platform in the top 10 organic results, it’s almost 3x more likely to be blogspot.com than anything else!

You can read the rest of the article here...

This is incredible information. Thank you so much!
Any data on any other directories like Buzzle?

What about regular WP websites?

I have always felt that way about EZA as I do very well with them but there will always be naysayers.

What I find is that blogspot blogs rank pretty good, but you have to let them age a bit. They also seem to require a fairly constant supply of fresh content to keep them there. Not many of these sites are ranking without some solid content and a bit of history. This is just my experience, though.

On the other hand, I have seen brand new articles, squidoo pages, and hubs bolt to the top in a week.

Google is still quite the enigma.

Strangely enough I've seen a post which claims Article dashboard generated way more traffic than EZA, there is no substitute for testing!

You can rank well with hubpages as well, you just need to do keyword research and make interesting and useful hubs. Very interesting facts though.

David - article dashboard was REALLY low...can't see how that could generate any traffic at all...I mean...it was 1/10 the penetration of Ezine...you're right...a good population sample and objective measurement...only way to go

tommen - Couple things at work here...we all know that Google manipulates the "importance" of these web 2.0 platforms...this study shows that it clearly favors blogspot (right now anyway!). Of course you can still rank with squidoo and hubpages...but having interesting content usually has nothing to do with that...unless you're implying that interesting content will build natural links...which of course...could be true. At the end of the day...we all know it's the links that matter...and then it's the "adjustment" that Google makes. Right now...their adjustment HUGELY favors blogspot. No other conclusion you can reach...so...why not take that interesting content and put it up there?

I do have one blogspot account with some original articles on it.I have inbound links to it, but for some reason it is not indexed by Google. My Wordpress blogs got indexed the same day I put them out there, and everytime I make a new post on my WP blog, the post gets indexed within hours, according to Google webmastertools.

For Hubpages, I have read many reviews and people are saying they get great results with it.I am testing this my self at the moment.
