Why would someone do this?

Ok, I don't know if I missing something... but would appreciate some enlightment...

I've been reading a number of clickbank sales pages, some endorsed (as an affiliate) by 'big names' through their e-mail lists... and basically some of these products essentially say this: "Hi, I used to be like you. But I just made $2 million last year working myself, and now decided to make this available to you for the low price of only $49/month". (Product I am looking at now is basically for google adsense and CB products).

What I don't get is... If someone genuinely was sitting on a 'goldmine', making $2 million (or whatever relatively large amount) a year, 'why' would they make it available to the 'average' joe for say $50/month?

I admit, the sales pages are good, because I'm tempted to buy... but its just that there are so 'many' of these nearly identical pages that I'm hesitant...

Did you ever look at those "screenshots for proof of income" and notice that all the entries were that same '$50/month' number again and again....Hmmm .
You don't perhaps they make money just selling their make money program, do you? Nah....

    Lol,

Yes... that thought has occurred to me... Videos is the new thing, but of course that can be easily manipulated (edit a couple HTML pages, then screencast it saying 'look at my LIVE proof!)...

I'd probably buy some of these to try them out myself if it wasn't for that fact that I can probably find 10-20 of these types of salespages/completely new products within 5 minutes...

Formula seems to be pretty much the same:

    a) Outrageous claim
    b) I used to be like you... but now...
    c) Imagine yourself being like me...
    d) BUY NOW!

I was thinking about this the other night and I came to the following conclusion...assuming I was one of these people who was claiming I was sitting on the 'goldmine' and now selling it..

Depending on what it was that I was doing which allowed me to make massive amounts of income, I would analyze how long it would take someone else to 'figure it out', re-engineer the process and then sell it themselves.

So, assuming what I was doing was allowing me to earn say $30,000 per month. If I figured a time frame of say 18 to 24 months, if that even, until someone started to catch onto what I was doing, I'd be looking at a minimum of $540,000...up to $720,000...from whatever system it is I do in my own business.

      Thus, my option now becomes...

#1: How much could I sell this information for at a price that would make me as much, if not more, money then if I were to keep it to myself and keep doing it until someone starts to duplicate what I'm doing.
#2: And if I do sell it, at what price point do I sell at it that would bring me in the most money?
      and
#3: How many people could I possibly get to purchase said product?

Once you then take that information, run the numbers, then one would know why someone would do this type of thing.

But as I said, this is just my thoughts on the matter and...to be honest, I was "under the influence" when this came to mind! LOL!

Well, business is business, and I can only speak from personal experience but I imagine many entrepreneurs create business models that work, discover a decent route to market and take it. Then, because all good businesses need to be scalable, exploring other ways to increase revenue makes good business sense, at least to me.

That's one of the ways that $1,000 per month businesses become $100,000 per month businesses. It's just one of the ways to make sure your business continues to grow.

    I'm like you...

    No, seriously

My biz partner and I just had a conversation that related to this last week (or so, I've had swine flu and early bacterial pneumonia, so forgive me if I'm a little cloudy on the days...

I believe the things people write are true. (Ok, that's what I want to believe.)

He believes that most people will lie to sell something or at least lie and put a morsel of truth in it. I still call that lying.

He and I have a website where we sell a service... a sought after service. And, we answer the question "if you can make XXX, then why are you selling this now?" And our answer is this: because we need the money RIGHT NOW as opposed to waiting for XXX to ripen and bring in XXX.

But, I gotta tell you.. if I made $2 million last year... I'm savvy enough to make that $2 mil go a long way. And, I'd hope, the last place I'd be is on Clickbank selling a $49/month program. I'd be doing what I did last year to make $2 mil. Or not.

    Bottom line: many people lie.

Good news: I'm not many people

    Warmly,

    Brandi
