My wordpress blog got deleted apparently for having too many links to my website. They said you can't use your blog to try and increase your websites ranking.
My issue is that I would write my blurb, sign it at the bottom and put a link under my name. Example: Sincerely, Kirstin Filliez BusinessScamProtector.com Was that a huge faux pas? I've only had the blog a couple months and though it would be fun to start so that I could track my successes and failures. Sometimes, if I was talking about something on my website, I would link to reference it. The dumbest part, I'm still organizing my marketing methods and haven't had many people stop by my blog, just some friends and roaming strangers. I was almost considering it a journal to use to write an ebook with, or something like that. I'm such a techie dummy that I didn't know that each link on a blog page could raise my ranking, I considered it an easier way for people to navigate around what I was talking about. Let me know your thoughts??? |

Wordpress is strict about what they allow on hosted blogs. They must have considered what you were doing as spam. I'm not entirely sure.

It would be much safer to register a domain name of your own and install the Wordpress software. Then you don't need to worry about the rules for a hosted Wordpress blog and can write what you like and include as many links as you like.
Or - since you already have a domain name, install a Wordpress blog in sub directory. Maybe yourdomain.com/blog. If you have cpanel or something similar with fantastico then it's easy to install WP in a sub-directory. |

Using Wordpress.com for commercial purposes (promoting another web site) is against their terms of service. So yes, that was wrong to do and they will delete your account.
(Kind of like have a signature on this forum with non-standard font size is against the terms of service) |

Yeah, you're much better off just taking the content and placing it on your own self-hosted Wordpress blog. Why invest your time and energy into building a blog that can be suddenly deleted at any time when you can just build your own asset that you have full control over?

Agree totally with the comments above. I think you should have done this on your own domain.

wordpress.com won't allow any links they deem commercial. Even if your links do get in under the radar initially, at some point they will notice and delete it or a competitor in the same niche will report it and get it deleted.
Perfectly good blog-rolls on wordpress.com blogs which you should still be able to get away with for links. Wordpress.org, which is the self hosted platform - link to your hearts content - always keeping good SEO in mind of course. |

Blog rule #1: Don't have a blog you care about, be hosted by wordpress, blogger, etc. You could lose it, without them even thinking twice about it.

Never host your blog on other people's domains.
They can destroy your business. Always remain in full control of your web real estate. Get a domain and install your own blog. Lots of video tutorials how to do it are free on the net. Ralf |

Blog rule #2
Never point a link to a free blogging site like Wordpress.com, Blogger.com. It just helps their overall site ranking. These and others play by a set of rules that are not very neighborly for those of us that attempt to use them ethically. |

I appreciate all the info, I guess I didn't realize the ramifications of having my blog like that.
I need to go back to the books and get it started under a different format. Better to know now than later. I appreciate all the feedback. Kirstin P.S. It was nice to be able to retrieve all of my info. |

Unfortunately, I have about 2,000 directories pointing to my blogspot blog
and I have 124 posts on t going back to 2006. If I put it on another domain, I will loose all that link work and page rank, too. But maybe I could get wordpress software, put it on another domain and copy the posts? Would I be accused of spam and plagiarism, even though it was me? I guess Google would not like the second blog because it copied the first on Google, right? |
