Article Marketers, how do you track your success?

I wonder what you are doing to track your article marketing success for specific articles?

Do you use tracking links in the resource box?
Do you check how often your article title shows up in the SE's? If yes, how often?
Keep spreadsheets of submission?

Other things to do?

Thanks for your ideas...

Ralf

MonayyyyY! That's really the only tracking I have done. If I get tons of money in a day, I look back and see which articles brought that money in and then work from there, because it means those articles did well, and then I proceed to fashion future articles based on my new knowledge.

I don't even track anything related to search engines either, nor do I backlink. Ironic, but if you are looking for those sort of tracking tools, you could install GA in your actual websites or you can check with your hosting website to see where the traffic to your website came from.

Sometimes I have done that in the past, and found I had one article which was constantly getting conversions to my website all the time.

So how do you find out which article is responsible for the money you got?

I don't know if you can Ralf. Not with the conventional article directory/Google Analytic model.

The only way I know of is with Website-Articles.net where you can assign tracking code to your articles, including GA.

Every day I check the obituaries. If I don't see my name there, then I know it's going to be a good day!

          Yes, I thought so too.

That's why I'm curious how acrasial does find out which article would be responsible for which part of the earnings.

    Hey Ralf..

We probably don't monitor it as closely as we should, but we have tracking I.D. on most of the content out we have out there..

Once a week, I can download a spreadsheet from my system that will give me figures from each tracking I.D.

I outsource the collection and uploading of this data... but, as Acrasial said... the only true way to "track" success.. is the profits... simply..

    Peace

I use Sitemeter on virtually all my sites. With Sitemeter, you will be able to see the out click url and see the location of the visitor which you can then use to decide if the visitor was a buyer or not.

I use tracking script for links I submitted at sites like hotscripts.com etc. Once in a while I log and see which sites are sending visitors.

I check my weblogs for 404 errors and referer sites.

My shoppingcart has integrated module which I can compare the the tracking url and ip.

More than that I don't really stress myself

I was wondering the same thing, Ralf. Perhaps she's making an educated guess based on her website stats? Perhaps the site she is referring to gets a small amount of traffic and she can tell just by looking at the server times?
