Default How does this work?

I decided two days ago to pause my google adwords campaign for one of my blogs.

Guess what happened next.

My blog has gone from being ranked on the first page of google to .... not. I am sure it is still lurking around somewhere, perhaps page 40...? How does that work?

I think it may be a co-incidence. Google moves the pages/sites up and down and the serps will be different based on which datacenters are showing up.

Just to test it, start your adwords campaign again and see.

if your site is new, it may just be the constant re-indexing that Google does. I have several sites on page one for my keyword of choice and use Adwords to drive extra traffic.

It hasn't changed their ranking but then again - the sites have been there for years.

I don't think there's any food for thought really. It would be nothing short of a PR (public relations, not PageRank) nightmare for Google if there was ANY relationship between organic and paid listings. And it would be very easy to actually test and document the existance of such a relationship.

Google is against paid links - IF adwords in reality had the same effect as paid links it would be a serious double standard. Google wouldn't jeopardize their reputation by doing something like that - they'd lose all credibility in an instant.

No surprise to me these big companies are steady ripping us off with underhand tactics , try selling on a certain auction site to see this in action.
