We ARE NOT running a non-profit around here!!!

Warning! Warning! Warning! Warning! Warning! Warning! Warning!
Get under your desks if this doesn't apply to you because I am going on a rant and I don't want anyone to suffer any collateral damage!

This is NOT directed at anyone who doesn't know any better. If you are someone who does this and doesn't know any better, please read this carefully and take appropriate action!

I am really tired of seeing people ask for review copies in WSOs!!!

Despite the popular belief, the WSO section is NOT a non-profit area! People list their WSOs to make money.

Most of the people who submit WSOs have already gotten testimonies and reviews from people. Honestly, they don't need people to volunteer their services as expert reviewers. If they did, they would ask for them in the main forum BEFORE they launch their WSO.

If you are a freebie-seeker, if you are a hanger-on, if you are not willing to invest the time and money it takes to become successful online, you had best go find an offline job right now... YOU ARE NEVER GOING TO MAKE IT ONLINE!!! In fact, you won't make it offline either unless you change your attitude.

Anybody, and I mean ANYBODY, can make a good living online. All the answers you need are right here in the Warrior Forum. Yes, it takes hard work. Yes, it takes doing some research. Yes, it will take some time. Yes, you will fail sometimes. BUT if you put in the effort and have the perseverance, you WILL succeed online.

Stop looking for handouts. Stop trying to take short cuts. Stop being a leech and trying to feed off other people's hard work. When you do these things, you have practically ruined your reputation around the WF and no one will want to do business with you.

Most of the members of the WF are great people and they will reach out to lend a helping hand. BUT, if they feel your hand in their pocket, trying to pick-pocket their success, you might just find yourself in the Allen Says Federal Prison!

Think about it!

Oh, by the way, the rest of you can come out from under the desk now. I'm done!

Great point. In the short time that I've been a member of the Warrior Forum I have found that the *majority* of people on here are so ready and willing to help each other out. When a newbie IMer asks for advice they get a load of free content that could help them start a successful online business.

The point is that if you're simply looking for free stuff, just come out and ask in the main forum. There's no need to become some "expert reviewer" to obtain valuable information here.

This place is like a family. It has some dysfunction, but the *majority* of the people here will have your back.

      Thanks, OP.

    "Review Copy"?

    OP - great post.

I am sick and tired of these freebie seekers - who even make email addresses just for freebies.

If they want to be successful online invest the time and energy and a bit of money to actually make the money..

Unfortunately there will always be people out there who just love these "freebies". These are the same people sitting on those so called "Bluefart" forums sharing people's hard work and then coming on here giving Fake Transaction Ids.

These people will never achieve anything..

      Could not agree more!

When people fail online they blame the product they bought, the vendor, clickbank, paypal, their PC (they should have bought a Mac anyway, everyone knows that ), their school teacher, the IRS, yada, yada, yada.

I have never seen anyone post here and say "I failed cos all I do is sit on my big fat ass buying sh*t I aint ever gonna do anything with..."

Which would be a refreshing bout of honesty...

To be fair a lot of people fail not because they are lazy but because, well, most of us need to fail a bit before we are even moderately successful, and a lot of us owe whatever initial glimmer of progress we made to the generosity of others .... though few would be as blatantly "gimme gimme gimme" as the folks the OP was referring to

Chris you are right about the failing thing.

My first company was a great success but I could not tell you exactly what we did that was the key to that success.

Two other small companies I started failed and I can tell you what went wrong in both cases (and have learned the lessons).

Trying and failing (fast before going too far down the wrong path) is the best way to succeed.

I cannot imagine the freebie seekers the OP righteously ranting about will take action with the info they have!

In before my last WSO I gave a review copy to a Warrior that helped me with a few recommendations. She went on to use the product and will make money from it.

She never asked for a review copy, she takes action and she succeeds (and probably fails sometimes too!).

        Hi Gary,

I see you are new here.

Not every WSO has affiliates or affiliate programs. It should not be an issue.

People who post WSO's pay money to do so. They are offering something at a price not found anywhere else on the web. Product owners who want reviews usually get them before hand.

This can be compared to walking into a store every week, and every time you see a new product in the store you ask for a free sample - which is not a sample in this case but the entire product. It's kind of rude to do that.

If you want to know more about something, you can ask questions or wait for someone who has purchased and get their opinion.

If you are dissatisfied, many times you can give your review on why you did not like the product and you can request a refund provided the product does not or can not do what you were promised it could.

Chris, you're dead on about folks asking for review copies.

It's a waste of keystrokes and just takes up good bandwith that could be put to better use.

I suggest they add a "I Want a Review Copy" button to the WSO forum and save those bums the energy needed to ask.

In fact, make it a banner. They click it, they get banned.

Gee, I wish the business climate, in the early 1980s, was even as it is NOW, recession and all! People TODAY just DON'T know how lucky they are. Just merchant CREDIT card accounts were WAY too difficult. TODAY, almost ANYONE can get them. In the early days of the internet, it was either OFFLINE, or done via a backend API. NOW, you have things like paypal. WOW! And accounts used to be VERY underpowered, unless you paid a LOT! Today, you can do ANYTHING for less than $100/month! WOW!

And what do people do? SELL JUNK, phish, spam, plagerize and get "review copies"? INCREDIBLE!

EARLIER, I had a LOVE for programming, etc..., REAL competitors were FEW, MOST had SIMPLE sites, etc.... The rules for merchant accounts excluded me. TODAY, I am SICK of programming. There are lots more competitors. GRANTED, many are NOT real competitors, but they DO lie/cheat/steal, and have FANCY sites, so people may be more likely to go THERE. And I am CERTAINLY not artistic. The one "graphic designer" I hired was a JOKE! He supposedly designed for a number of the big guys, etc... but I just never got anything decent. But I can EASILY get a nice CHEAP merchant account, and be able to do anything I want on the server.

      Steve,

It is now as it ever was.

Our predecessors and ancestors, regardless of where they were or what they were doing had it much harder that we do.

Junk, plagiarism, scammers, bums and freebie-seekers have been with us since time immemorial. It only started occurring online in the last thirty years or so.

People still behave the same as they always have. Most properly, some, not so much.

I WAS THERE!!!!!!!!! SORRY, what I saiid was FACT. Not perception, etc.... YEAH, cheaters, etc... were always there. THAT is why they tightened things up. EVENTUALLY, they relaxed them again. Now this is serious business as anyone knows when Chris (the OP) comes in and posts a rant. In most cases he is more than willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt. But when he cuts loose, boy can he raise stink.

In this case as in many of his other stinks, he raised a stinker of a point. Asking for review copies just plain stinks. I believe it is immoral and abusive to the World Economy. Just think about it if we all gave everyone who asked for a review copy, the world would be in a much bigger mess than it already is. And that just plain stinks.

But if all the ones wanting a review copy would just write or create their own product and then give review copies to everyone there would be no review copy askers to ask for copies.

This perfectly clear rant should now be over and anyone wanting a review copy should not think I'm going to give it. Even if I drop the ball on the returned Karma.

Now it's time for my coffee. And my Prozac.

This is a normal practice on forum digitalpoint.

So whenever anyone posts new WSO, dp members who are members of this forum also, start asking for review copies. Their reviews also seem fake.

They need to understand that Warriorforum is different and much better than forum digitalpoint.

It does not matter what other IM focused forums do or don't do; permit or don't permit.

The only thing that should matter to members of Warrior Forum is what is permitted on Warrior Forum!

Forum behavior is forum specific. How a member behaves on WF is the only thing that should concern us. In this context.

Allen Says, aka "admin", has addressed the WSO review copy request situation with this addition to the WSO Forum Rules:

        Pretty clear, huh!

          It is amazing aint it??

Now, there are a lot of WSO's that have NO testimonials at all shown in the sales copy...BUT that still doesn't condone asking for a review copy...

But, for those that list WSO's without any testimonials, well, that's a problem as well.

I can't speak for others, and I don't run a crapload of WSO's, but if I were to, I would send out copies to some respected warriors weeks ahead of time in hopes of getting a review. This allows me time so I don't have to badger anyone for reviews, and also tweak anything that may not be good enough or was pointed out in a review. (and by respected, I mean people I respect, not the people with the most posts).

Sorry, a bit of topic but related in that backwoods Kentucky kinda way.
