I am thinking about launching an extremely cheap WSO, but with all of the Paypal horror stories, I don't feel comfortable using them as a payment processor. But I have yet to see Warriors use the alternatives for their WSOs. So, here's my question... if you saw a very profitable (and cheap) WSO, would you buy it even if the payment processor was Google Checkout? Or, would you be turned off altogether? |

I don't believe you have the option of running a WSO with a different payment processor. Honestly, I'd think twice about buying from anyone who avoided paypal because of "horror stories". kay |

Thank you for your honesty, Kay King. As far as whether or not you can do that... I haven't seen anything on here forbidding different payment processors. At least there's nothing said in the rules or what not. Regardless, my concerns are very real for my situation. I freelance for two companies that only accept Paypal. If it gets frozen for even a month, I would be ruined financially. Lord knows if it got frozen for 6 months or more! Granted, I think even with the horror stories I probably have less than 2% chance of something happening, especially since I would be doing things the "right way." But that percentage is still too high to risk, especially when my mortgage and utility bills rely on my Paypal money. The few hundred I could make from a good WSO now don't outweigh that risk, no matter how trite it may seem. So, unless the admin tells me otherwise, when my WSO is ready, I will probably use a different payment processor. Hopefully the low price and the content will make up for it. |

Paypal is good for cheap WSO's because a lot of people have "spare cash" sitting in their Paypal account. They're more likely to spend this money than if they had to use their credit card. So perhaps it's worth looking at a payment processor that will accept Paypal through their own system, such as 2Checkout? Just a thought! cheers Sam |

But anyway, after doing a lot of pondering, I will probably just use Clickbank for the WSOs. They accept credit cards and Paypal, plus it will be completely separate from the Paypal account I use for freelancing. | |

The problem with your logic is that any payment processor can have "horror stories". What about all the PayPal success stories- the majority of us that have done lots of business there with no real problems? Also, if you use one that is not familiar to your buyers, you may lose sales. One reason so many of us use PayPal is that so many people accept and trust it and already have accounts with it. I wouldn't worry about this point with something like Google, but I would if it were a lesser-known company. |

I think you're right to be concerned about all the PayPal horror stories. I am, also. As a potential customer, however, the ones I would have no hesitation using are PayPal, AlertPay, Neteller, Google Checkout and Moneybookers. (Probably in that order of comfort!). |

The PayPal 'horror stories', as bad as they are, are really the instances when something goes wrong and we get to hear about it. Remember that these horror stories stand out because people report them, create info products about them (which ironically they sell through PayPal!) and so it brings it to the front of our attention. Clickbank has problems and so does 2CO, so I wouldn't let that put you off. You should think about the benefits and possibly also offer altternatives too. Hope this helps. |
