Absolutely - in many cases, doing things offline can get you that much needed cash much faster. While you can make a lot of money quickly with IM, in the majority of cases there is some set up time required, and this is what you can't afford to deal with when you have immediate money needs that can't be ignored.

One of THE Best ways to make some $$$$ if you are desperate.....

Go to a CAVE [figuratively speaking ofcourse] Start making a a list:

If I need 1000 in next 72 hours I can [and turbo charge your thinking]:
1. I can ask for 100 from 10 ppl in return for some service...
2. I can do two BIG things for 500 each...
3. I can save 100 here... make 300 there.. borrow 250 somewhere else and not i am in the end zone.
4.
5.
6.

When you put your thoughtss on paper you will be able to think clearly...Agreed when you are desperate.. you will have a lot of outside noise that you will have to BLOCK out... hence the "go to cave" comment.

Once you settle down and eliminate the outside clutter..... you will be AMAZED how your mind will go to work...

Remove the distractions and obstructions from your path of thinking and let your MIND run wild...You will be pleasantly amazed.... and last but by no means the very least....TAKE MASSIVE ACTION...

Desperate times call for Desperate ACTIONS...

What are you willing to do.

You mind will show you the way and your will power will make the way...

Also good thing to do is read a GOOD thought provoking book... and you will see how your adversity is actually a BENEFIT coz now you will do things that you might have otherwise not even considered doing....

For what its worth...

LASTLY....and for God's sake....don't do anything crazy that will SCAR you [or anyone else] for the rest of your live.
When in doubt.... run it by a good friend or a trusted advisor.

Now I know how the internet marketers talk to each other. I'm a newbie here and I'm a bit lost here. But I'm still learning. It takes time though.

Become an affiliate and write awesome squidoo write-ups, write a few eza articles to point to each one. Tweak until they convert.

I dunno, not "quick" to me. It does make some money though.

1. Get a Fiverr account
2. Find out what's popular on Fiverr by clicking on the "popular" tab
3. Either copy their service or offer something similar
4. Find a free or dirt cheap ebook/info product to offer as a one time offer.
5. In the Fiverr instructions after they buy, tell them that they can download their ebook by clicking your link. When they click the link, they're taken to your OTO (one time offer) page. Sell the info product for less than $15.

Set the payment to go straight to your paypal.

6. Put the Fiverr link in your signature on this forum and start replying to a ton of related posts, providing helpful answers, and watch your paypal account grow. May not make you rich, but I've done this myself (still do), and it does work very well.

If you are really desperate for cash, I would spend a little time looking through various sections of craigslist as these are immediate situations and you don't have to wait for online payments etc. For instance, today in my local craigslist I see a few people seeking pet sitters to go to their homes during the day. Probably getting a couple of these can lead to more gigs as they might have friends in the same situation. I also saw under the domestic category people looking for babysitters, "cleaning job tonight" and someone to pass out flyers this week for a karate studio. These may not be glamorous , but they can pay some bills and give you time to work on something more substantial.

Use your hours wisely. Making money online is not very hard, you just have to look at it like a real job and not a get money quick scheme. If you look at it like a real Job you will actually start to make money fairly quickly and consistently. (about 30 days or less) Now each day of work has to be at least 8 hours just like a real job.

Get a spot like a free wordpress blog. (If you have a domain use that) Put a Commision Junction link for a product on your site with some reviews on a few different aspects of the product. Also Why they need, why it's better than other products in its class... Don't be afraid to have multiple pages of reviews. Only spend a couple of days max on this.

Now Decide on a couple of traffic streams you will use. Articles, videos, forum, answers, blogs.... Now once you dedicate yourself to the 2 streams you will use learn some SEO BASICS, just focus on keywords and how to stay away from comp. Like where to put keywords and how much to use. You will mainly be depending on traffic from the communities you are using, Search Engine traffic will be bonus if you get some, but you will most likely never get any if you dont follow the BASICS. Don't worry about back linking yet. Oh yeah go ahead and sign up for all of the article directories or blogs or whatever you are going to use, try to find 10-20 Spend two days max on this. Write everything Down, take notes

Now here is the repetitive boring work everyone is always talking about. (remember your desperate). I will use article writing as an example for this step(by the way article marketing is one of the highest converting). Write articles for 8 hours a day minimum, I wont say how many to write a day, because you will get faster and faster after about 48 hours of this you will be kicking out articles like crazy. Remember, you want to write quality stuff, try comparing products in your articles even using brand names, this will help conversions.

Here are some DONT's: DONT SPIN ARTICLES, DONT USE ANY ARTICLE SUBMITTERS, DON'T RE SUBMIT THE SAME ARTICLE ANYWHERE (no need just write another) DON'T TRY ANY SHORTCUTS OR SPEND ANY TIME LOOKING FOR ANY.

Remember spending an hour looking for some shortcut is wasted time, don't try to find a shortcut if you don't even know how to get to your destination in the first place.

Now once you start getting some money rolling in , the first thing to spend it on after bills, is e-mail marketing, like aweber, continue to do what you are doing daily, but now create a list.

Work on the list for another 5 or 6 months, now you have just earned yourself some PTO (paid time off) learn what to do with that list, and you will be able to start making money with much less than 8 hours of work a day.

Don't try to find a shortcut, when you don't even know where your going.

Why do people get paid to take a survey? How do you get paid to give one? Which is more profitable? WATCH this fascinating video of reverse engineering then building a simple survey. You Won't Believe What We Discovered!>>https://goo.gl/YtJgOR

Absolutely.... No better way to put it than that....

In the end... when the rubber meets the road. It all comes down to action!

I don't judge people by what they say... I judge people by what they DO!

As long as I am moving forward I am not moving backward..... make sense?

Since we are just getting out of our toughest time financially, let me share with you what got us through and how we made quick money every day to pay the huge lump sum they wanted to avoid foreclosure. I know this site is dedicated to online ventures- but none of what we did was online but it worked.

- Sell it! We sold everything we could manage without in the house. Dishes, junk, stuff- what ever. We sold at garage sales, Craigslist, and the side of the road.

- Scrap it! We took a lot of junk to the scrap yard in the city and made $11 for every 100 lbs of metal we could find. We advertised junk clearing on CL and got a lot of FREE metal to cash in.

-Sell it some more! Think you have wiped out what you can sell in your house? think again. Consider what you'd be willing to take to a hotel with you when you get kicked out of the house and if it isn't one of those things- selling it. I'm not talking about grandma's silver- but we had a lot of stuff that got "skipped" the first time through (like a TV, game system, table....

_ Offer a service! Mow lawns, wash cars, walk dogs, babysit, clean houses, fix gutters, paint, put up fences, wash windows- all things we did in about a 30 day span for the cash. The good thing is that all those people we did work for needed it done and they wanted to help us. They call from time to time and offer us more work- which we still gladly take!

- Make sure you have the things you need (like Toilet paper!) and then stop shopping for food until you have run out of the things you have in the cupboard. It's amazing how many meals you can make with the bits left in the back of the pantry. Use extreme couponing tactics for any purchase you need to make.

- Hunt garage sales for thing people are selling cheap and turn around and sell it on CL/Ebay. We made a lot of cash this way.

- Downsize! Think of every expense you are paying for like this "I can spend $__ on __ or I can pay for our house/food/__" If your statement sounds like something Dr. Phil /Oprah/Springer would beat you over the head for- scratch it and pay your major bills.

- Ask for help! Family, friends, food bank, church, whatever- we ALL know what it's like to worry and be in a big hole with a tiny shovel- People have big hearts and will help you! Just remember to pay it back in kind when you are back on your feet!

Getting no work or money makes more desperate on mind and frustration goes on. So i do concentrate on my quality provided and keep giving my best. If still no profit then, listening music or watching movie makes fresh and then devil is back on work for earning by quality services.

Just being honest here, but creating an Android (or iPhone) app is not going to help if you are desperate. It's a great income model and yes, the android is a great place to be right now, but unless you have a unique and great or really well marketed app (which costs more money), apps are a slowe buildup of income.

And the absolute best way to make money with apps is to diversify. The people you see saying they make $65,798 a month with apps do it with several apps, not just one

Having said that, I know where you can go to get an excellent e-book and course!

It is unwise to trust all you read on the internet.

Agreed. When you're desperate and you're up to your eyeballs in debt and bills, app development is too convoluted and slow a process to learn and master.

Internet marketing in general might be a little too slow and complex when your head is clouded with money issues like this - offering services, both online and offline, is probably the best way for you to quickly start making some emergency money.

My suggestion is if you have decent writing skills or photoshop skills, you can provide these services on fiverr to get a feel of earning money online.

I will tell you a couple of different ways that I have used in the past. Offline and online.

Take a look at the classifields in your area. Find a product that people are always in need. Once you have figured which item, go to the free section and see if your item is in there. If not, see who you can get it from for the lowest amount. After you have done this, take a look at the prices that the items are being posted for, and put your item noticeably lower. Keep in mind, you want to make sure your item is in demand, and in good condition. You have to move fast though, because there are always people looking if it is in high demand.

Online, one of the quickest ways I have made money is by attaching myself to someone who has already done it. I sent personal messages and contacted people directly to ask for mentorship. If you are sincere, I find that there are always people out there that want to help. By doing this I have often found myself in a position of quick profits.

I hope this can help some people.

There is a lot of good info here. I am guessing that there will be a lot of people trying to utilize it. Keep in mind that you don't know which one will be the right fit for you. All are good ideas but will they work in your situation, Maybe Yes Maybe not. You don't know BEFORE you start.
Here is my warning.
Not only are you short on money but your are also short on another resource. Time. I'm guessing that your going to get one shot before your sunk. Use the time wisely.
Since you don't know what will work inadvance go forward with these two thoughts.
1. Be flexiable and determined. If something starts to go wrong. Work thru the difficulty analizing as you go, adjusting on the fly and working toward the ultimate goal.
2. Diversify your attempts at income. Have one main effort but when you can't work on that. Start on another project as a back up. You can do a lot in your free time. Print out the instruction and read them while standing in line, going to the bathrrom, eating lunch, late at night before bed, you get idea. When your done, utilize the same time to plan.

Just a thought or two to help you a long.
Good Luck
PS
Mentors-- Good , Person to report efforts to ---Good.
PSS
Doubt --- Bad, Insecurity derived from you situation --- Bad
You might have done some stupid things that got you in bad situation but that doesn't mean you will be dumb in the future. The past is--- well,... the past. your changing the future and yourself just by being here. Again good luck

The first money I ever made online was with Ebay.This.to me,is one of the best ways to start.Accumulate some cash and use it to fund other ventures.Once you gain experience you will soon be able to sort out the real stuff from the "scams".It does take time but it can be done.Forget "overnight millionaire" claims. You are in the best place on here so just watch, post and learn.

Plenty of great ideas in the threads ...

Making a budget
Cutting back
Getting better deals on utilities, mobile etc
Clearing out the garage and selling them on ebay or craigs list
Offering your skills to local businesses

However there's one thing I haven't come across in the threads, no one's mentioned is fiver.com, where people share things they're
willing to do for $5. Just need to ask yourself what are you willing to offer for $5.00

Re: What to do if you're desperate

Hi all, this is my first post. I stumbled across this website 4 days ago. I've read this thread top to bottom, and echoing the sentiments of many other newbies to IM, I'm simply stunned at the generosity of the many experienced posters here offering suggestions to those desperately seeking ways to lift themselves up out of unfortunate circumstances, and by the quality as well as by the quantity of the suggestions offered here.

Hopefully my question is not out of place on this thread, and the question is this: what if I'm not desperate? Let me explain. I'm a bit past middle age. I was laid
off two years ago from a pretty well paying job. The layoff was not a surprise, so I was well prepared, financially speaking, when it did happen. I am not taking unemployment (by choice) because I am not seeking a job. I'm sure most of you will understand my perspective when I say that the mere thought of going back to the corporate grind crushes the very breath out of my soul.

My living expenses are relatively low, and I probably have another year or year and a half before things start becoming desperate enough for me to contemplate going back to that same old rat-race. I view this time now as one of those rare opportunities to take the time to evaluate which direction I want to take my life, and I'm reaching out for suggestions on what you would do, were you in my situation.

I'm not as interested in "getting rich quick" as I am in heading out in the right direction, and in the right way, with a strong foundation of experiences that can
build, one on top of the other; if that makes any sense at all.

While this thread already contains enough ideas for me to try to piece together
a way forward, I'm wondering how, if at all, any of these great ideas can be
tailored with an emphasis on getting a solid foundation with a high probability
of satisfaction and success, rather than getting fast money right away; recommended
training, pitfalls to avoid, broad strokes for areas of specialization, etc.

My sincere appreciation for any of your thoughts and guidance.

Best Regards.

Then you're wise! This forum gets lots of posts from desperate people, and while we all understand their pain, and try to help as much as possible, the cold, hard fact is - If you're desperate for money, Internet Marketing will probably not save you in time. If you only have one week to make rent, you should have started in IM at least a month ago. Beginning with IM now and hoping to make several hundred by the end of the week? Could happen if you're lucky, but I wouldn't count on it. The folks here will give the best advice they can, but most of us will tell you that it is extremely difficult to bank quick money online if you're starting from ground floor.

You, on the other hand, are someone we can help more easily - you didn't wait until you were desperate, you decided the time to act is now, before you get desperate. Not to deride the folks who come here desperate - I've been there! It sucks! But you're in a much better position, and we can really help those who aren't desperate...

Much of the learning curve with IM is in finding what really works, and what works for you. This usually involves some trial-and-error.

Become a member of the War Room - it only costs $40, and it will be money well spent! There you'll see even more of what you've seen here - plus lots of free info and free/discounted programs and strategies.

Re: What to do if you're desperate

One of the best sub-forums which I used to help me make a business targeting the offline world was the offline forum here. Those who are familiar of when I posted quite a bit there know I asked lots of questions and then shared what started to work for me very quickly.

You would be amazed how many businesses need someone who knows something about marketing online or setting up a blog. I've been paid to set up wordpress blogs, twitter accounts, facebook accounts and give people advice on how to use different tools. I've even been paid to do social media updates for people.

Most of us take setting up these things for granted because we know how to get a domain, hosting, social media accounts and the like but honestly tons of offline businesses don't or they don't have the time.

My advice, for what it's worth, is offer a few connected things as a package that you're comfortable with.

Get some business cards, a good pitch and go to a local network event in your area. You may need to pay a small fee but if you research one well you'll find the membership active and the small outlay repays you. I made my money back after the first meeting I had with my local group.

I had next to nothing to put into this to begin with. But I set some aside for my business cards and meeting fee.

Get on LinkedIN this is a very under rated tool by many yet I got one gig from there which snowballed into three other referrals which paid for Christmas and then some. Get recommendations...

Once you get to know how to do more things you can of course offer additional services. It all comes around so eventually you'll get to where you want to be. For instance; all of my offline clients are on mailing lists and some have purchased digital products from and through me. They've also shared my lists with others...

Getting offline sometimes fills people with dread but honestly life behind a keyboard can make your head spin if you need fast cash. The only downside I found was dealing with some clients who wanted to more and more for less and less. I only had myself to blame for that so I raised the bar. End of story.

You'll find more information on the offline forum about how to handle clients best. Jobs like that need contracts just so everyone knows where they're at. Once you have the first gig down you'll wonder why you waited so long.

As for the fiverr thing - some are successful but as you may have seen some people are still waiting for their first gig. You cannot wait if you're desperate to make money.

Outsourcing is great but you need to research who you're outsourcing to.

A twist to this is; businesses connect and offer their clients connecting services which another business can do. They charge a mark-up for that referral and either pass the client on or have the client work through them. I did this for Facebook pages and also do it for some web authoring work.

Alternatively you can just go ahead and offer services to the IM community. Since I've not been down that route yet I can't really comment on that experience. But judging by posts here it can be successful.

There are some great posts on this thread. You just have to find something that would work for you.

However, not always going to work when someone is truly feeling desperate and overcome with anxiety. Feeling desperate can be quite an emotional thing and depending on the circumstances, can be kind of hard to overcome. There's hope, though!

I do think you make a good point, though. If you clear your mind and think about what you need to do and quit thinking "I need money I need money I need money" I think you will have a better chance of actually getting things done and making money for yourself and for your family.

Thank you Joe.

I'd have joined the WR already, except it only takes PayPal; which I haven't used for years. It'll take until sometime next week for a transfer to clear, so I'll be joining sometime after that.

You've touched upon two essential areas that still fall under the general umbrella of internet marketing which are probably the most effective ways of making money quickly, in my opinion. Traditional internet marketing (affiliate marketing, product creation, building a list) is unlikely to work if you don't have existing web assets in place and are unfamiliar with doing any of this stuff.

With offline marketing to local businesses, the majority of the work can be outsourced quite effectively and easily, and when you land a client you'll get paid very quickly. The same goes for offering simple services like blog set up, writing, or any other ones that you may know how to do. I'd avoid Fiverr though, especially since they have a 14 day holding period on your payment balance there.

If i am very desperate for money.

I think the most practical method
is what i do when i am still studying,
and do not have any money,
so i do some part-time jobs
during my vocation or after schools.
Look at all the newspapers avaliable,
and sign-up for those agencies that
help people to look for jobs.
Once your financial is ok,
then you can start thinking of
something else.

You can offer services or sell old or extra items on the classified ad sites. If you are truly in dire straits, with a spouse and little mouths to feed, just get a part-time, so you can at least have some type of stable constant income coming in. This way, you can ease some of the stress while you work on your IM business.

Consider network marketing. Make sure you find the RIGHT product and RIGHT Company. Get TRAINING, MENTORING, and build an organization of network marketers (people getters - not just your friends and family or regular people you meet off the streets). Building a large organization of network marketers is the key to leverage your income. If you do choose the RIGHT product and the RIGHT company, you could double or triple your earnings.

A lot of people think that Network Marketing (or MLM) is the last thing you do before you commit suicide - only if you do not know what you are doing. People mistakenly think Network Marketing is a pyramid scheme or a ponzi scheme. Bernie Madoff did not have layers of people - everybody dealt with him directly.

Again, if you do not pick the right product and the right company - you might as well shoot darts in the dark.

Here is how to pick the product -

1. Established technology - A product that is best of its class and does what it promises.
2. One product with multiple uses. As a networker you only have one chance to pitch.
3. High Ticket means high commissions so you can recoup your investment and start making lots of money right away

Here is how to pick the company -

1. Established company - at least 5 years old. The more established the better - with proven track record of growth with a long term momentum phase
2. Leadership is solid - both corporate and distributor base - and the category creator in the industry. (Forget the copy cats, they will never make it).
3. A compensation plan that pays daily and encourages unilevel promotion for individual and group performance. (Forget the exploitative binary plan that pays on the weak leg!!!)

Sick and tired of $10 commissions and guru launches? Get commissions from $285 all the way to $1,710 per sale. I agree with Kevin, craigslist is one of the best ways to get a job quick, and I think that this a good idea, to really find out how much trouble someone is really in then we know just the right place to send them.

What she said.

I'm not a fan of network marketing and have vowed I will never get into another one. (Like a lot of people, I've been caught up in 2 or 3 different MLM companies in the past.) I'm a bit suspicious of their "residual payouts until the bazillionth tier" although I can't say conclusively that MLM is a scam. I know companies like Amway and Herbalife have been around forever and are quite respectable. (Although I'm still not buying into the MLM hype.)

MLM companies push the idea of little work with lots of reward (via "residual income") and talking to your family, friends and neighbors to build your organization. I think this sets most people up for failure almost from the beginning. Joe and Jane Next Door Neighbors typically have little to no business training/experience and their expectations are not realistic. Few people buying into an MLM are prepared to treat it as a BUSINESS.

If I were to get involved with an MLM company again, I decided that I'd have three criteria:

1. I'd DEMAND that I get/have solid BUSINESS training, even if it didn't company from the company I was working with.

In my opinion, the "training" you get from the MLM company simply is not enough.

After watching Secret Millionaire, I became interested to know how Dani Johnson (the millionaire from the first episode) made her millions. After doing some serious digging, I discovered her first million came from MLM! And now her training company trains people in MLM how to market their businesses (regardless of which company or product it is). I got some of her info products and it's good, solid stuff.

Her best (and lead product) is her Script Book, which has all kinds of scripts for different situations: cold market, warm market, voice mails, talking to friends and family, etc. It's very authentic which HUGELY impressed me. It solves one of the biggest problems for most clueless MLMers: knowing what to say! She even has a great script for approaching friends and family (typically the people who get bombarded the most with MLM pitches, yet who are the least receptive to it).

If I were ever to get involved with MLM again, I'd incorporate her training in building my organization. It's the best, most authentic business-building stuff for MLM I've seen ANYWHERE, hands down. Her closing scripts (handling common objections like "I have no time", "I need to think about it", "I need to talk to my spouse", I don't have the money", etc.) are BRILLIANT -- and brilliantly simple.

2. I would NOT approach friends and family with my new MLM product/scheme/whatever.

It's a BUSINESS and I would treat it like a business. Therefore, I long ago decided that if I were to ever get involved with any MLM company again, I would NOT approach friends and family, period. If I couldn't afford to build my MLM business through "normal" marketing channels, then I wouldn't do it.

3. It must be possible to make good money by selling the products/services alone, not just recruiting others into the biz op.

To me, what makes an MLM company scammy is when everyone is making all of their money recruiting others and NOT through the products and services themselves. Even if it's not technically illegal or unethical, it's just, well.... scammy, which makes me feel slimy.

So if I can't make good money selling the core products and services, then I'm wouldn't doing it, period.

I have no intention of going into another MLM, but listening to Dani Johnson recently had me thinking on this topic.

Many people focus on the affiliate side of the equation because of the lure of "easy money", but the reality is that the quickest way to create income online is in "services".

My recommendation is for people to find an area to specialize in and go after three parallel tracks:

a) Sell services for that niche (let's say its website design, for example)

b) Create two products that are related - one a freebie giveaway to immediately begin building a list and the second to be an upsell for the list. But don't get greedy. Start out with a very affordable $9 or $17 upsell product.

c) Work on affiliate as well if that's your long term desire.

I would either freelance for some quick cash, or write a report/create a product and sell it through paypal. That way you have instant access to the money once you are paid.

You don't have to make products in the IM niche either, just write some articles and bundle them as PLR and sell a limited amount of copies as a WSO. As long as you are writing high-quality articles, you will build a good reputation and can take on clients for freelance work as well as putting together future PLR packs.

If you need some fast money and you don't have a list to promote, a product to sell or any cash for advertising, then the best option will be to identify your skills and offer what you can do to people on various websites like forums and freelance sites. You can also contact offline business owners and sell your internet marketing skills by helping them.

Once you got some money, invest a portion of it for your long term projects.

Product Creation is definitely the most profitable aspect of IM. It's pretty simple, find a need, and provide a solution to fulfill it.. supply and demand.. if there is demand for what you can supply, then sales will come quick and painlessly.

If you're looking for the internet to get you on your feet fast and you have no money, do something offline that will get you some income coming in quick. Or do as someone else has said on this thread and offer services; articles, content, etc.

I believe you should have at least SOME money, anywhere between $100 - $500 to get you off on the right foot. But that's aside from the cost of any training courses that you WILL need.

Kevin had a great tip, go on craigslist in the gigs section and do some gigs. Maybe even mow lawns for $25 a day while offering services, writing articles, etc. online. Once you have some seed money, get set up with a squeeze page, autoresponder, and simple website to start making affiliate sales...

On the IM side,

If you're looking for immediate income,

Contact the many sites that will pay you to create content from the comfort of your home.

There are lots of them:

Outsource Weekly
GoFreelance
oDesk

To name a few.
