I'm just wondering is the traffic targeted? Those of you who are doing video marketing are you making any sales? To me I just think that youtube traffic is for casual surfers so it would be hard making sales. thoughts?

I've heard it said that youtube is the second largest search engine, not yahoo, not bing. (disclaimer: the guy that said that pitches youtube how tos, so take it with a grain of salt) You can find just about anything you can imagine and reams of stuff you can't imagine on youtube. I use it for SEO, but I also use it to find any tutorial on any topic I can think of. |

The idea is that your youtube link will show up in the search engines (Google) with a nice thumbnail of your video. That's some great virtual real estate there on the search engines. You can then promote your site or whatever with the video by creating buzz, giving more exposure to your site and even create a backlink or two to your site. Promote your site url in your video with a watermark. Of course, churn out quality content first! |

| You have to create good content and that in itself, is not enough. You also have to PROMOTE it.

People search on Youtube for niche information. The search suggestions and their own keyword tool should tell you that. There's definitely money in it. I've made a few hundred bucks from 10 videos I put up a year ago. A friend of mine makes good money from 500 videos. I need to replicate his success. It's simple, I need to make 50x more videos! Hopefully I will have time to do that soon.... |

| My youtube traffic bounce rate varies between 30% - 40%. Google traffic has a bounce rate of 55% Yahoo and Bing has a bounce rate of 20% - 25% You could say that youtube traffic is more targeted the google generic traffic, but not as good as yahoo or bing. As for conversions - I have a forum and look at conversions as new members and not as sales - then yea, I think youtube is great for getting conversions, but only if its done right. I have seen people that try to market their sites, and their youtube videos are junk. Their nothing but 3 - 5 minutes of trash. On the other hand, I have seen people that post good videos, and try to build a relationship with their viewers. As for my youtube account: Channel Views: 407,034 Total Upload Views: 7,913,754 Style: Reviews Age: 42 Joined: April 12, 2007 Last Visit Date: 5 days ago Subscribers: 17,603 |
