Does having a list decrease your hops?

Ok so this might seem kind of obvious but indulge me, and take yesterday as an example.

My website is doing very well as far as people staying on it and reading through my content... consistently I've had about 30 uniques per day (traffic is tough in my niche atm)... Now, out of 32 visitors yesterday, I had 8 hops... this isn't that impressive.... BUT I had seven e-mail sign-ups as well. Now, before I added opt in I was getting a 50-60% CT rate.

I'm sure the best option is to split test but I'm just wondering if you think that the previously "not ready to buy yet" hops are nowsigning up for my e-mail list instead? I've gotten 20-30 uniques per day with no sales for almost 2 weeks but I mean... my CT has been good and I made a sale nearly every day when I was getting 90+ uniques. I guess what I'm wondering is it if it's possible that my list is turning people off a bit? After i get to 50+ a day consistently I'm changing my CB account information to make sure that's not the problem.

    Hey Branlan

    Have you thought of changing the process a little?

    For example..

    After your visitor has opted in, why not send them to a soft pre-sell page and then onto the merchant page directly from there?

    So, like this:

    Visitor Lands -> Opt-In -> Pre-sell -> Merchant

    Believe me, you are doing the right thing in building a list before you give the traffic to the merchant...

    Maybe you just need to be more active in moving them towards the sale.

    Make it obvious for them and give them two choices at each stage after opt-in:

    Move towards the sale

    or

    Go Home

    You have them on your list for playing later

    Peace

    After the opt in they are thanked and set back to my page which talks about the offer so I think I have that part covered, maybe I'm reading into it a bit much? Thanks for your input though I'm thinking about what I could change.

    I put an offer on the thank you page, this way they get the offer. still, if you get their email, you don't have just one shot to get a sale, but many times, if you treat your list well.
