3. Comment on blogs to increase your traffic related to whatever your website, or blog is about. The higher page ranked sites you point to the better. Usually these sites are very popular, and give you a quality backlink and traffic to your websites.

4. Start a Twitter account and build your followers list, send out tweets advertising your business

5. Social Networking sites add as many friends as possible on your myspace, or Facebook account. Send them bulletins asking them to check out your website.

6. Optimize your website for the search engines. Use Google adwords keyword tool to research keywords, for your website theme. Think highly searched, and low competition keywords to go after.

7. Ping your blogs after each new post

8. Bookmark all your articles, and website pages. Delicious and Digg are the ones I get the best response from. Also tweet them as well.

Good ideas, just make sure you learn how to do it right. having a huge list of followers on twitter does no good when all those followers are doing is spamming their own products.

stay away from spam, whatever medium you use. Take time to build relationships with people. It is the best way to get good targeted traffic.

Certainly good ideas and methods of traffic generation. I would suggest that if you are new to IM'ing to pick one or two methods to focus on until you are generating some consistent responses. It is easy to get overwhelmed when you spread yourself too thin trying to do all things all the time.

Articles and Forums is my best. Social Networks is not as good because most of them don't believe you or have their own offers to promote.

At least with Articles, you can set and let it go and Forums you get to know who is who.

Good list, and here's an extract from an article I wrote:

1. Email other web site owners requesting a reciprocal back link, the web site should be related to your own,
for example, if you have a weight loss site, you should look for weight loss, health & fitness backlinks.

2. Join the social networks and post useful information with your links in the profile area.

3. Post helpful advice on forums with your signature leading back to your site.

Nice list of techniques for building traffic I suggest that you use Feed Ping Free Website and Blog Multiple Submission Service as they have a massive list of RSS directories to send your RSS feed to.

I love Twitter for building traffic too, it's true that Twitter Traffic doesn't convert brilliantly, but I still get regular sales, a good Alexa ranking and backlinks too.

I think another site which is worth mentioning is pipes.yahoo.com with Yahoo Pipes you can create some great "Mashup" RSS feeds which you can send to your blog and Twitter profile via twitterfeed.com : feed your blog to twitter which adds additional interest.

Yahoo Answers (as another user mentioned) is another favorite of mine.

You can also submit your site to domain, whois, and DNS statistic web sites, like Cubestat - Website Value Calculator, Estimations and Information and build backlinks that way. I've automated this process and submit my sites to 1000's of directories.

Another idea is to create a simple software application using an open source language like AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText You can easily record and create macros/ scripts to automate bookmark submissions, Youtube commenting etc
