Where is the best place to start for an Internet Marketer?

Hello there.

First off, my name is Tyler Perroux, I am just shy of 18 and live in the Live Music Capital of the World.

I have been dabbling in and out of clickbank, PTC sites, and other sites, but have yet to really make money. I have seen $5 here and there, but nothing close to even being able to survive for a day.

I am wondering if any of the 'Senior' marketers, or someone with any experience would be willing to guide me.

I have a strong drive to learn, but little money, so I can't really pay for the knowledge.

I am willing to make a deal with anyone, such as 70% of my profits in return for guidance and tutoring.

Thank you in advance for any help

Since you don't have a lot of money to start with, you're probably going to want to grow your business organically. That is to say, you'll want most of your traffic coming directly from search engine searches.

The great thing about this is it really gives you a feel for what moves sites up and down in the rankings and gives you a nice place to try out ideas like squeeze pages (to capture e-mails and build your "list") and improve your quality score (for when you are ready to go with PPC and that extra boost)

SEO is, in my opinion, the best way to begin cheap. You can get paid search engine rank dividends by simply working hard to create content and backlinks. High ranks can lead to high monetization. Again, you have time to split test and presell and all the stuff that real marketers really love.

As a bit of advice, don't think of marketing in terms of money - at least not yet. Most of us here do it because we love it. We love the buzz of writing copy, we love tinkering with metrics and click through rates and talking with our peers about our latest discoveries. I hope you find some of that here and stick with it. If you do, you'll be a super marketer.

Well I have taken one of the I guess 'lazy' routes, and have had a blog setup for close to 1.5 years.

Its just a simple wordpress blog, and I have been getting somewhere around like 20 visitors a day forever. It's never really changed.

Does the more relevant content tend to raise the sites PR in google's eyes and such.

    Haha, excellent RazorBlade, thank you.

I am not really sure where to start. The forum is massive, and i'm not exactly the best at looking for a needle in a haystack.

Is there anywhere on WF that can push me in the right direction, or is trial and error the best way to go.

First you need to find an activity or a subject that you truly love. Then you need to find a way to turn it into a money maker. If you go the opposite route, you probably won't make anything bigger than extra coffee money.

So many people who are new to IM start by looking for the niches and activities that, traditionally, bring in a bunch of money and then trying to mold themselves to fit that niche. What usually happens is that the person gets bored or burnt out when they don't see the profits come rolling in quickly.

If you choose an activity/niche that you enjoy, you won't mind putting in the long hours required to make a profit in IM!

@Elijack Thank you for the link. Very good videos.

In order to grow organically, and increase traffic, how can i do this. Should I just create content, or should I also use free traffic exchanges, and such.

    Tyler,

Start with the all in one threads at:

WarriorForum - Internet Marketing Forums - Threads Tagged with allinone

And use the search function for terms you're particularly interested in - go for the threads with most activity (for example, search for "niche marketing").

If you've got any specific questions or need help getting started up Skype me and I'll help you out.

Alright. Thank you Jason, very nice threads :] .

Now I do have a question about advertising. I tried using Google Adwords a long while back, and it kept declining my card(same as when I tried registering my domain with them back in 2006). So I finally found what the issue was, the account was under review, convenient eh?

Well so finally I contacted support, asking that they expediate the review process(as the Adwords forum mod said). I get a response that says my account is suspended indefinatly. Now from everyone else that has had this happen, that basically means a no-go for AdWords.

Is there any other way to get your ad's onto google's system, if not, what is the best alternative to Google Adwords.
