I am site manager for Forexpros.com. One of the ways in which we market our website is by offering free webmaster tools to other websites. When a website uses our trading tools we get a link, which improves our branding and SEO.

Has anyone tried a similar form of marketing? Have you had a positive experience with it?

Absolutely. We sell software that requires a linkback, and we have a pagerank 7, and lots of traffic. I think it is great when you can come up with something that other people want to use on their site. I'll take a look at your tools. Maybe we can come up with a phpLD widget for phpLD users.
