Taking Down The Big Guys

I live a small village in spain and I work for a small family hotel last week a huge hotel opened a few block away they have 50,000 euros marketing budget, I have 500 euros.

What should I do to help this old couple ?

I thought I would
add a wordpress blog
add a youtube account
add a flikr account
create a ning network
create a facebook account
create a twitter account

ask all the people who visit the hotel to submit countent
ask local buissness to join the battle

The problem is the big guy has done all the above before me.....

any ideas

Your most effective advertising method as a smaller hotel is word-of-mouth. Check out TripAdvisor.com for more information about how people are influencing decisions about where people choose to stay when traveling.

what you need is: local search SEO. target local search. It could be different from general SEO. found some SEO service which is targeted local search, see what they do.

You need to provide some other details:

Is the hotel in a rural area or a big city?
Who's the hotel customers? Foreigners or Spanish?
etc etc

With more info we can give targeted responses to your problem.
