How do you make money being an affiliate with ebay or amazon. Do you make a percentage of the sale if people buy other peoples items that were on your site or by people clicking on the site from your site (pay per click)? I am brand new to this...so sorry if this question is simplistic?? |

In my experience with Amazon (pay per sale), you don't even make few dollars per month. It is waste of time. Instead create your own product and sell it. . |

You make money on Amazon when someone clicks a link on your site which takes them to a product page (or sometimes anothrr type of page) on Amazon, and they buy something. Anything, not just that product. Not sure how exactly ebay works it, they have made some changes just recently. You can indeed make money with Amazon, especially at this time of year. Search the forum for "IPK" or "Info Product Killer" to see some examples. |

| Traffic directed at Ebay and Amazon consistently converts at no less than 10% for me. Salespages on clickbank generally convert at 0.6 and with ebay/amazon you don't need your own product. Much easier.

The commission are also VERY little compared to stuff like clickbank or CPA...so it would only work if you sell high value products, talking about $700+ cameras, big screen tvs..stuff like that. How amazon's system works: You have a link to an amazon site or product on YOUR site. Going through the link, the link drops a "cookie" on the customer's PC which will credit a potential sale to you. The customer still has to go and purchase directly from amazon. Same thing with ebay. | |

So you do get a percent of sale of an item. Example..700.00 vacuum. you get say 2% of $700.00. Not just a flat "referral" fee.

Amazon pays a commission and it varies with how much volume you sell. I think to start out, it's around 4% and Amazon will tell you to sell "x" more items and then they will raise you r cut to 6%, etc. This is a percentage of the sale price. Back when Amazon started their affiliate program, you could make serious money because they had 30-day cookies. Now, they have just 1-day cookies. I gave up on them when they began stopping affiliates from using adwords. Not too long ago, I was making good money selling doing PPC on video games on opening day and several other items that had good search volume but no advertising competition (unicycles was a big one, of all things). Ebay was phasing out their affiliate program and back in the day, they were paying a commission on sales. They just started a CPC program that's paying per the quality of the click traffic you send them (not sure how they determine quality). A friend of mine says he's getting .40 to .50 a click right now. |

You can definitely make money with Amazon. Once you've got things going with Amazon and you get some results, I recommend you go to Commission Junction and Shareasale and work with them as well. The reason for that is that Amazon only gives you a commission if your visitor buys that day. The others will give you commission even if the visitor goes away and comes back a few days later (up to 30 days is very common). It works really well for me. I make a very good living selling products from Amazon and related stores. |

The one benefit I find that overcomes the 1-day cookie is the recognition and trust factor that Amazon has. Nearly everyone that shops on the Internet knows who Amazon is and is willing to buy from Amazon. Lots of the stores that place 30-day cookies are places consumers have never heard of and they are reluctant to buy from. Also, Amazon does a great job of cross-selling which means customers buy more than one item and you get the commission from those purchases as well. I've sent customers to Amazon that decided to go on a shopping spree while there (usually at Christmas-time) and rack up a pretty good commission on just that one customer. Quote:
