I suppose this is more just out of curiosity for myself, seeing what other people are like... But when\'s the last time you had a real \'job\'? I.e., a 9-5? Cheers! Johnathan |

I was a land surveyor until 1996. After that, mowed lawns for a summer, owned a cleaning business and then went full time IM in 1999

I had a full time job until about a year ago - when I confirmed I could easily surpass my salary with part-time PPC work, I quit my day job.

Had a traffic accident in March '08. Worked 4 months in agony. Been self-un-employed since August '08. Still in constant pain, makes IM harder that it should be, especial using the key board. Thinking if Dragon has gotten good enough to use, I might try that if it will write code.

hmm I quit 7 months ago (was a waitress..yuk!!!) and then I was lazy most of the time and studied marketing for the next 6 months. Anyway the last few days I got my website up and running and my biggest concern now is getting traffic and conversions... Hope it will go well otherwise I need to go back to 9 to 5 and work on marketing in the late hours... help I could kick myself for being so lazy the past few months and not getting started sooner |

October 1987 was the last time I worked for anybody. I then had a bricks and mortar business from Nov 87 until Jan 1989. Had a few years off when I had my son. Then I had a very small mail order business for a few years before coming online. |

I took stores from making $20,000 a week to making $60,000 a week and more. The worst of it all I got paid salary of $400 a week (trust me I worked 7 days a week). The only great thing about it was I got to go to all the food shows with all the top brand makers and spend money. Food show would normally last 3 days - 7 days and I would spend 1/2 million dollars in a day. The 1/2 million I spent would turn a profit of several millions though. I got all kinds of free stuff from Planters Peanuts, Kraft, and other big name companies. I got beer lights, free food, bags, and a bunch of other stuff. When I quite I had a huge yard sale and made $5,000 on all the free stuff I was given...lol But I figured if I could make these people millions then I sure could make myself millions... (I am still waiting on the first million)James

I was laid off in May of this year. While I was working, I was working on my web sites, so I was quite happy when I got laid off as I now have more time to work on IM.

Still working, however I wouldn't call teaching a real job, not compared to being fitter and machinist. A lot of teachers still live in fantasy land. I cant wait to get out and work full time on my business.

I graduated from University in 1994 and have worked online since(!) At one point - in the early 2000's - when everybody was throwing money into internet companies - I also held a part time job that paid me a very high salary. This lasted for less than 2 years when the 'bubble burst'.... |

I still work 9-5 and would like to work totally online. I am in a great online company but after being unemployed and trying to play catch up, it is hard to market properly....or at least my marketing gets lots of attention from people that don't share my vision. Any suggesions ?

Right now - Web Consultant. Fortunately i have some spare time to surf Warrior Forum and others for 'educational' purposes. I'm one of these people who would probably go crazy if i was just stuck at home on my own all day. However I'm approaching the point where my day job might end up costing me money some time soon so i'll have a decision to make soon.... Of course it's never a bad position to be in though. |

But the good thing about the day job is that there are always fun and games going on in the office and people to talk to all day. If you get bored you can hop over to someones desk for 10 minutes. Of course i'm lucky i have a decent job and work with some good people. If i was working somewhere else i'd have probably already left by now.

But id miss the day to day interaction with people if i worked from home full time. Of course working in my pajamas would be good though - because i'm a bit lazy like that :P The good thing about a job is at least you know how much you're going to pick up at the end of the month. Income from IM can vary hugely from month to month. But i'm sure the very successful marketers don't have to worry too much about that.

I haven't worked a real job since July of this year. That is only 4 months ago; but I have to admit I love working for myself. Although I feel that sometimes I work a lot more hours online than I did when I worked the JOB; I am much happier because I call the shots and I know that I have the potential to earn a lot more than a job would ever pay me. |

December 1989. That's 20 years of freedom. People work their whole lives so that they can hopefully retire some day. I feel like I am retired every day of my life. What other way is there to live really? When you are self employed, you are the one in control of your destiny. Doesn't it make sense to do whatever it is you have to do to put yourself in that position? |

Last January 2009 when someone hired me to work for an SEO service. Actually I don't know about SEO until I learn it by just reading and participating in forums. And now I'm still working continuously. So by this coming January, its my 1 year of working.. And I'm loving it..
